Q: Trying to buy a car in philadelphia need help cause i don't have good credit. Thanks?
Does anyone know a good dealership in philadelphia where i can get a car where i don'tt have to put down a hugh down payment and my monthly payments wont be outrages? Please help me my mom is willing to cosign for me though she is only about $1200 in debt butdon'tt know her credit score. If anyone has any helpful information i would appreciate it thanks.

A: Your best hope is to go to a local credit union and get the loan. You said you want a good payment. If they say no, you won't get a better deal at any dealership..

Q: Are you able to live comfortably in the city of Philadelphia without a car?
I'm seriously considering a move to Philadelphia, but do not own a car. I was wondering if this city had a good public transportation system? Do the buses run 24 hours a day in this city?

A: SEPTA runs almost 24 hours on nearly all of it's routes, and there are buses that run 24 hours a day. However very late at night it's probably best to grab a cab for safety's sake...and more time efficient because the buses that are running aren't as frequent. Public transit is so extensive here. The monthly pass in the city, which gives you unlimited travel in the central core costs $78...it's a great deal. You can actually move about from Philadelphia as far south as Delaware (on SEPTA), and as far north and east as Long Island, NY or as far north as New Haven, CT. (both via NJ Transit to NY Penn Station..then the LIRR to Long Island or the Metro North RR to New Haven). You can take a SEPTA train to Trenton and change to a NJ Transit train to NYC. It costs $39 roundtrip to NYC from Philly. In other words, don't sweat it about not having a car. *** live here, 5 years now, without a car

Q: where can I find used cars for two thousand dollars and under in Philadelphia?

Q: Blue and white shields on cars in Philadelphia?
I live in the Philadelphia area and have noticed a lot of these blue and white shields on the back of cars. Sometimes its just half blue and half white, sometimes its checkered, sometimes its some other pattern, but always the same size (~2x3") and always blue and white. I usually see them on BMWs, but have seen them on a few volvos too. There's no dealer name on the shield, so I'm not thinking they're from a dealer. Are they from a european car club or something? Does anybody know what these shields mean? No. Its not the circular BMW logo. The white and blue colors are similar though. It looks like a small shield. A half oval style shield. Its usually a few inches left of the license plate. It probably is a "eurobadge" of some sort, but the design is different. It looks like a little shield with a flat top edge and a semicircular bottom edge - like you might see a knight use in some medieval film or something. Also its only two colors unlike the eurobadge which appears to always have three unless its one of the flag ones and I've never seen one that isn't blue and white. I've seen people put all kinds of stupid junk on their cars over the years, but I've never seen these shield things outside the Philadelphia area and have seen a lot of them here. Until I saw one on a volvo I thought it was a BMW thing.

A: They are commonly known as "euro badges" Its just a thing geeks put on their cars that symbolizes where the car was from originally (like anyone didn't know) and also they have flags from other countries like it.. Its just a stupid moronic thing to put on your car and a waste of money..

Q: How much was your car at Philadelphia Public Auto Auction?
Has anyone ever been to the Philadelphia Public Auto Auction? I'm looking to buy a car for about $500-$650. I wanted to know if this is enough? Or how much will I need? I'm not looking to spend a lot on a starter car. Thanks!!!

Q: Where can I park my car in Philadelphia?
My friends and I are taking a road trip up the East Coast and we were looking for a place to park our car in Philadelphia for free? We don't want to have to pay to keep our car in a garage just for one night. Also, any cheap (and I mean CHEAP) places to stay? Including national parks, truck stops....

A: http://reservations.bookhostels.com/studentuniverse.com/findabed.php?PHPSESSID=9e9e348d2ff91a173900969ff496ab04 --this website searches for hostels in Philadelphia. I'm not sure if parking would be free in/around the center of the city. You can find hotels and travelers' reviews on tripadvisor - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g60795-Philadelphia_Pennsylvania-Vacations.html Maybe stay somewhere just outside the city and use the mass transit SEPTA to go in town - http://septa.org/

Q: How much to rent car for week in Philadelphia
How much would it cost a 30 year old European to rent a car from Philadelphia city centre for one week including taxes and insurances costs, but excluding petrol of ocurse? I'm willing to drive any car, and have an international driver's license. Will the insurance against accidents come with that car rental, or is it something I must specifically request when I'm renting it? Thanks

A: The previous poster had the range pretty much right, around $150-$300 NOT including insurance, which can be up to $40 per day more depending on class of car and what you take. Check your car insurance, it MAY cover overseas rentals, most do not. Also, I have noticed that UK agents often have access to insurance inclusive deals we can't get here. The same may hold true for other European countries. Another question to consider is do you need a car, or one for the whole week. Philly is VERY walkable in center city, and there are many easy to use public transportation options, especially in the summer months. You would only need a car if you plan to travel to points outside the central area. (If you have a specific itinerary, you can mail me and I can advise if you need a car for any locations)

Q: Choosing between Public Transportation and car in Philadelphia?
My significant other and I are going to Philadelphia for the first week of July, but I am torn between taking public transportation or a car. I'm from Chicago, a one way fare is $2 on the bus or train. My mom says I should just take public transportation because it's hard to find parking in Philly, but alot of people say not to expect transportation to be as reliable. The hotel I'm staying at is right by the airport, so what would you suggest??

A: It really depends what you need to do. If you're staying near the airport, there is a train station right there that can take you directly into Center City. However, if you are doing anything involving the suburbs, you might want to look into a rental car. Most SEPTA (public transit) fares here are around $2. The buses cost that much, the trains vary depending on where you are going. The real problem with the transit system is that everything goes directly in and out of Center City, and there is little to no option when going from one area outside the center to another. As mentioned above, PhillyCarShare might not be an option to you since you're just visiting and not a resident.

Q: Anyone know of dealers that buy used cars in the Philadelphia area?
I am having trouble selling a car that I have to sell to pay the bank off. iTs a 1998 Hyundai Tiburon, I have tried craigslist and various other sites and am running out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated

A: What is the condition, miles, and what is the payoff? most used car dealers will buy cars from the public but at wholesale price the same as they would at the auction sales. In my experience most people in your situation are upside down in the value of the car, meaning the payoff is greater than the book value I hope this helps

Q: Why do the police not ticket the people of South Philadelphia who blatantly park their cars on the median?

A: Parking is tight in South Philly and by tradition they just get a pass.

Q: Selling a car to a dealer in Philadelphia area?
Does anybody know of ~specific~ dealers that buy used cars in the Philadelphia area? If so, please give the name & what part of Philly/the suburbs it is in? Phone numbers if you have them are great, too. Somewhere in the western suburbs would be excellent (KoP, Norristown, Main line, Collegeville, etc), but anything in the Phila metro area in general would be great. I know I won't get the greatest deal, I am not looking for advice on what other options would be good if I want to sell, I am just looking for dealers who will purchase used cars, b/c I have a limited time frame to work w/. Thanks to anybody w/ info!

A: I dont think any of the corporate dealerships (honda, nissan, etc) would take the car in. But there are so many small used car dealers scattered along the Roosevelt Boulevard, if you want to drive along there and see what you get for your car. Honestly, it would be more to YOUR advantage if you sold the car yourself to a someone directly. The used car dealerships really act more like the middleman and will give you much less for your car so taht they can make way more than you actually got in your hands.
