Q: Is it worth it to rent a car to visit Philadelphia?
I am planning to be there between October 17 to 19, on the 19 I will rent a car because I would like to go to lancaster, PA, but my question is if I need while I am visiting philadelphia or it will be better to visit it without car
A: you don't need a car to get around in Philly. Plus it will be hard to find parking and you will end up paying a lot of money to park. You can use the subway or cabs to get around in the city or just walk. I say go without it until you leave the city to go to Lancaster.
Q: how would I go about finding information on a hit-run accident in 1988 Lancaster, SC?
ok so my mom was hit by a car in 1988 in Lancaster,SC
at that time I was to young (age12) at the time to really find any information on my own and my dad was to overwhelmed with what happened to my mom to really know what to do. So years later I am trying to figure out what really happened . The person who hit my mom has never been found and the sheriffs dept never did a good investigation. THEY BLUFFED IT OFF BIG TIME.
I called the sheriffs dept a few months ago and they said all records were destroyed, but how can they destrpy records of a criminal case that was never solved?
so what should I do? Is it legal for these records to be destroyed in this situation?
fyi: the accident occured on;
SEPT of Labor Day Weekend 1988
Lancaster, South Carolina on Camp Creek Rd
on the curve known as devils curve
1/4 mile of Camp Creek Baptist Church
my mom was not killed but left for dead on the road
she is now severly mentally disabled because of the accident

Q: Rent a specific BMW? Lancaster PA?
I want to surprise my boyfriend by renting his dream car for his 21st birthday. It's a BMW Z3. Does any one know where I can rent a specific car? We live in Lancaster PA, but can drive to Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington DC.
A: What a cool idea!
The newest Z3 was made in 2002, so the newest ones are over 6 years old.
You're going to have a tough time renting any car at 21. Most major car rental companies are reluctant to rent to anyone under 25. Looking for something more unusual to rent just compounds your problem.
So you've set yourself a difficult task here.
The closest I could find was Beverly Hills Rentacar in Manhattan. It looks like they might have a BMW Z4, and they rent to 21 year-olds, too (for an additional fee).
Otherwise, you might try your local BMW dealer Faulkner BMW to see if they have a recommendation, or see if you can negotiate something with a local used car dealer who might have something on the lot. I looked on cars.com and Mannheim Imports has an M-Roadster. Times are hard for car dealers right now; maybe they're open to other ways to make some money.
Good luck!
Q: What is the noise ordinance for the city of Lancaster, PA?
I had my music up high in my car while I was working on my lawn when my neighbor said his house was gonna blow up which it wasn't that loud. I have trouble with my neighbor and I want to know how loud I could play my music without causing any trouble.
A: I'd say as long as it's the middle of the day, and not midnight, you should be able to play it at a reasonably loud level without any trouble. I wouldn't do it for 8 hours, but 2 or 3 hours should be ok.

Q: Does the DMV in Lancaster, Ca make reasonable driving appointments?
i am in the army and going home to lancaster ca to get a car and a license while on leave, never had a license before. i have a permit from new york and a permit from virginia, would california accept these as valid since i am military?
also, does anyone know whether the dmv in lancaster or palmdale makes appointments for their driving tests within a reasonable time period (several days out)
A: Permits don't count, only a valid license from another state. If you have a valid license, a driving test is not required. However, with just a permit, you are applying as a new license holder.
No, they generally don't make appts several days out.
Q: used car dealership in Lancaster, PA?
Well already have a car, but my mom wants a car but she has bad credit? No a place in Lancaster, PA that doesn't care if you have bad credit or bad credit?
A: You need to find a "buy here, pay here" car lot. Normally in the bad part of town. All reputable dealers will need a good credit score to get your mom a loan, especially these days.

Q: How Can I get to East Rutherford,NJ from Lancaster,PA by public transportation?
I am in Lancaster , PA and want to get to East Rutherford,NJ. I don't have a car so I need to go there by bus or train and either is OK.
Any one can help me??
THX!!!
A: You can take Amtrak from the station on McGovern Avenue Lancaster PA to Trenton New Jersey, then take New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor line from Trenton to Secaucus Junction, and then change for a Bergen County Line train to Rutherford. You'll want to visit the Amtrak and NJTransit sites (linked below) to coordinate schedules.
Q: Shipping small car from Lancaster PA to Toronto, Ontario?
Does anyone know how much it would cost and what company to use??
A: Check you yellow pages for "auto transport". But like mentioned, if possible, drive. Shipping brings into play the extra paperwork involved with crossing international borders. Drive it across to avoid this, or at least postpone it to the DMV if the car is to be reregistered there.
Q: Are used cars in the Philly and/or Lancaster, PA area cheaper than in Central Jersey?
I'm on a strict budget and I'm looking for my first car. I'm 17, a high school student and part-time cashier at my local Target working at $7.25 an hour (due for a raise, i hope, in a month or two). I just got my license but it seems my insurance is expensive and so are decent used cars here. I'm looking for anything that is basically automatic and will run. I can't tell you what my exact budget is right now, because I don't have much in my savings (thanks to the first 3 months of insurance, driving lesson before the road test, and bad spending habits that I'm trying to drastically reduce).
Since the average income isn't as high in Pennsylvania as it is in New Jersey (mainly because of property tax and location), are used cars in the Philly area or Lancaster County area cheaper than central Jersey? Only reason I'm looking only in Philly and Lancaster is because Philly isn't too far from me and my sister goes to school in the Lancaster area. Any sources will be appreciated!
A: I currently live in Central PA, went to school just outside of Lancaster, and have worked in Philly. I can tell you that used cars are just as expensive, if not more so, in that region. The problem that you are going to encounter is that the region you are speaking of is a hotbed of activity for the automotive industry. Manheim Auto Auction (located in Lancaster) is one of the largest (if not the largest) auto actions on the East Coast. This auction serves dealers from all over the North East. This means there is a constant flow of cars through that area, and a lot of experienced car people.
Your best bet is to check out the local paper for cars, or check for cars a little further south. Cars are expensive in the North East...no matter where you go. South of the Mason Dixon, specifically south of VA, cars are much cheaper.
Q: Are there any safe public garages to park my car overnight in Lancaster, PA?
I am catching a train from Lancaster to NYC, and I'm driving my car there (from Lebanon). Are there any safe places to park one's car and leave it overnight?
A: Parking at the Lancaster train station is safe. Never had a problem there. There really is no alternative parking near the station. Your car will be fine.
Q: Best way to get from Lancaster PA to Philly airport without a car?
I will need to travel from Lancaster PA to the Philadelphia airport, but won't have access to a car. What is the best way to get there? I know Amtrak is an option, but are there any alternatives?
A: Amtrak is your best option. Catch Amtrak to 30th Street and then connect to the R1 Regional rail train (within 30th street station) The R1 will take you directly into the airport.
It's very easy.
