Q: How do you like the name Charlotte Avalon?
Charlotte is in honor of my dad, Charles, and Avalon is from the legend of King Arthur (please don't tell me it's a car, I'm aware, but it's also very literary.) Thank you.

A: I really love it, actually. It flows well and sounds sophisticated, unexpected, and elegant all at the same time. Charlotte is my favorite girls' name; it will be the name of my first daughter. It's very timeless and elegant, and ages very gracefully. I think it's a name that can suit anyone- Charlotte on its own is very feminine and pretty; for a spunkier tomboy, Charlie or Charla work equally well. And it's even more lovely that you're honoring your father. I don't think you could have made a better choice! I like Avalon. Although I don't much care for Ava, I think it's pretty, and Avalon keeps all its charm and spunk while taking away the commonness. And as you say, it's very literary; in fact I didn't even realize it was a car. I think Avalon adds a fun touch to the more demure Charlotte. Beautiful choice!

Q: Queen Charlotte Islands in British Columbia - which is best route?
I'm planning a trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands and wonder if anyone else has done the inland route on the BC Ferry? Was it worthwhile? Should I plan to overnight first on Vancouver Island and then in Prince Rupert? Is it worthwhile (and cost effective) to take my car or can I rent a car in Skidegate Landing? And, other than the big park, what should I plan to see?

A: Go to hellobc for free guides

Q: Does anyone know of any specials car dealers are running right now in the Charlotte, NC area?
My fiance's car was just totaled, and we are going to have to purchase a new vehicle. I know some dealers run adds like, push, pull, or tow your vehicle in for X amount of dollars, no matter what. She has another truck (a fixer upper) that she might be willing to trade in along with the money she will get from the wreck, but I don't know who has a good deal going on right now. Any help?

A: your not really getting a good deal from places like that ...your better off selling your old car for as much as u can ...then haggle for best price on what u want....go around to different places...dont pick the first one...and dont be afraid to offer them less....dont let the sharks bite ya...lol

Q: Car rental from Charlotte Airport for a 20 year old?
I know the big companies don't hire to anyone under 21, know of ANY companies that do? Avis doesn't and most car rental places will rent to 21-25 year olds for an additional cost but I need a company who rents to <21's

A: The major car rental companies absolutely will not rent to those under 21. The only chance you have is if one of the smaller rental agencies will do it. Don't bother with Avis, Enterprise, Dollar, Thrifty, Alamo, National, or Budget, they won't do it.

Q: What dealerships in Charlotte,NC is Rau chemicals in?
I'm looking to find out which car dealerships in Charlotte, NC sell Rau Automotive chemicals?

A: most of them have web sites or you can call them .

Q: what are the cars for that sit at stoplights/intersections?
The sit up on the shoulder or on the median, all different kinds of cars and they all have a magnet on the door with a picture of a traffic-stop light. I live in Charlotte, NC, dont know if they are just here but I really want to know.

A: Maybe to remind you that you ARE sitting at a stop light. You don't have to sit there. It costs money. You burn 20% less fuel starting a car moving from 5mph than from a complete stop. So pay attention and slow down for the next light so you can roll through after it turns green!

Q: My husband and I just moved to Charlotte, NC and needed a car, the car we bought is a real lemon.?
The dealer we bought it from does not want to work anything out and although we had no warranty, he worked on the car after we bought it and caused more damage. Didn't fix anything but cut a hole in the floor of my car to "fix" a fuel pump and cut a tank out, lost the tank and left wires hanging everywhere. We need to sue him, but being in a new state, I don't know where to start. I would appreciate some suggestions. Thank you.

A: North Carolina has a "Lemon Law" that is supposed to help people when they get a bad deal on a car. I've never had to use it (thankfully) but you might want to check it out and see if you can get any satisfaction that way. Your local library should be able to get you the information on who/where to call. Also register a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Good Luck! Please don't think all people in NC are cheats. Most of us are very nice and friendly!!

Q: do anyone know a place in charlotte nc where I can get a good use car or a websit other than cars.com?

A: i would hate to give you a certain location, however i would recommend going to a dealer and trying to buy one with the factory warranty still in effect. Also you may want to look into purchasing a service contract with the vehicle however please be sure to read all the fine print and not just take the business managers word for about what type of coverage you are buying. Also, the manufaturer's extended warranty is the best type to buy that way no matter where you are in the united states if you have a problem with your vehicle you can take it to the dealer and have no problem with them accepting you extended warranty, however the manufacturer's extended warranty does cost more. Used Toyotas and Hondas would be at the top of my list. They generally hold the value better so may cost a little bit more, but they are generally more dependable. The hendricks auto group in Charlotte has a good reputation, the Harrelson group is ok, some of there stores are kind of iffy so be careful, i've been away from Charlotte for A few years so a lot has probably changed. Just do your homework and def do not purchase on the same day you look. It's always better to think about it for a night. If you have found the car you absolutely cannot live without and are scared it may be gone the next day ask if you can leave a deposit on the vehicle and make sure you get it in writing if you change your mind that the deposit is refundable.

Q: What's the best way for me to sell a used car in Charlotte for free?
I have a car I am loking to sell, but every classified and online publication charges money. I'm really not trying to spend money seeling my old car...Any suggestions?

A: Don't you just need a "For Sale" sign and just need to find a place next to a busy street and call the people who own the property and make sure they allow it?

Q: do u have to have a taxi license in order to make money from car pooling in charlotte, nc?
i would like to make a few dollars from car pooling--would also like too advertise this in our local paper--would it be illegal to do so? do i need a cabbie's license?

A: dont advertise in the paper, just ask at your church or at work, and you should be ok

Q: do anyone know a good use car dealer in charlotte NC (Cheap good cars)?

A: Why waste time and money with a double-talking car dealer when you can buy your dream car from government seized auto online auction, where you can buy a car 90% off Retail Value? Every day, the government confiscates, seizes and repossesses thousands of Vehicles. These vehicles are usually typically listed at 90% OFF their original value and auctions usually start at $100. You can check out http://seized-car-auction.info ,That site lists top 5 Police auction sites and help you choose the best one. Good luck!

Q: In todays ecomony is it a good time to start a used car business in Monroe NC or Charlotte NC?
I am thinking about changing jobs, and wanted to know what the start up cost would be for opening a small used car lot in Monroe NC or CharlotteNC? Also would you do it now or is the current ecomony not right to start this type of business?

A: I'm not sure what the startup cost is; but you will have to figure in the dealer cost of every single vehicle you have in your inventory, as even new car dealers have to buy the vehicles outright from the manufacturer, as well as pay the manufacturer a daily fee for having the vehicle on the lot. As for the timing to start it up, I suggest waiting until after the presidential election. Right now, because of the lame duck (and a few other choice names) we have in office, and the fact that we will have an almost all new administration in the winter, nobody is going to be making any significant purchases until after the election. Housing is in a slump; auto sales are in a slump; and many other industries are feeling the fallout. There are quite a few new and used car dealers in this area; and many of them are feeling the pinch like never before. I would wait a few months and keep your eye on the economy before jumping into it.

Q: Why are there so many abanonded cars in Charlotte, NC?
I just moved to Charlotte, NC last year. I've lived in NJ and Denver before this. Everyday I drive down 77 and 85 to get to work. On my way to work, I must see at least two abandoned cars each day. I've never seen anything like this before. Do that many people in this area not service their cars? It's not like the weather is frigid and cars breakdown all the time.

A: i see them too!! but then a again there is a lot of debris on the highway my dad blew out two tires at once. it was the second time in like 3 months. people dont always flow with the weather here either ive seen hundreds of kids wearing rainbows when its 30 degrees out!

Q: Can I rent a car in Charlotte NC if I am less than 21?
I am 20yrs old and live in Charlotte NC, and I want to rent a car. But usually we should be at least 21 or older... Does anyone know any rent-a-car company which allows underages to rent a car in Charlotte NC?

A: I don't think any do and some of them you have to be 26. You will need to get some one else to get it for you.

Q: Where can I buy a police car in Charlotte NC?
And are police cars recommondable?

A: Go to ebay motors and you will find hundres of Ford P71 police cars. If you can find a supervisor's or detective's car, they are usually pretty well cared for. The normal traffic car has bucket seats in front with a vinyl seat in the rear. Supervisior's cars often have the much nicer LX interior. The parts on the P71 are the same as the taxi model and you can get them at any auto parts store. The primary difference are the shocks, brakes, suspension and tires. They are all much heavier duty than the normal Crown Vic. The hoses are silicon based and can be replaced with normal Crown Vic hoses. The sheet metal is the same - they use radios to catch the super fast guys that run (which is a realy stupid way to end up in jail).
