Q: Where in Staten Island is it easier to take the road test?
I'm about to take the road test soon and was wondering where is the easiest place to pass the road test. I need to know the easiest area because I purchased a package from a driving school which lets me take their car with a professional instructor. I want to pass this road test because I don't want to lose my money and I will be needing the license for work or I'm screwed.

A: they have cars in staten island?

Q: Is it difficult to find parking at the Staten Island ferry terminal on a weekday (SI side)?
I want to visit NYC for a day and I'm looking for ways to park my car and get into the city on the cheap. I plan on arriving at around noon on a weekday.

A: My understanding is that there are usually spaces available at one of the lots up the hill from the ferry terminal. I used it once mid-morning, and didn't have a problem getting a space.

Q: Where in NYC is the sign that says "This is Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island, etc.?"?
I saw a picture of it online, but don't know where it is so I can take my own picture of it when I am in NYC. There were cars driving by on the interstate it looked like, but I can't tell.

A: I think there is a sign when you come over the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan that says welcome to Manhattan. I think there is also a sign when you get off the Staten Island ferry on the Staten Island side. As for Brooklyn I think there is a sign on the Belt Parkway near the Verranzano that says welcome to Brooklyn. This is all from memory. I hope it helps.

Q: Any parking space available in Staten Island?
I'm planing to shop at the Sri-Lanka grocery stores and eat at the Sri-Lankan restaurants on Victory Blvd in Staten Isand on a Saturday evening. Is it wise to drive my car there? Are there any parking spaces available or is it better to take a cab?

A: I'd rather be in the 9th circle of hell than be in Staten Island. Good luck getting a parking spot over there; You're better off bringing it into a demolition derby, it will get less damage that way, rather than cramming it on the tight over-crowded Victory Blvd. Plus, you have to risk your car being hit by all of those retards who live in that retched pit of a Burough

Q: Has anyone had their car towed by Fast Away Towing from Pathmark on Forest Avenue in Staten Island New York?
On Tue, April 24, 2007 I went to the Staten Island, NY, Pathmark on Forest Avenue to shop like I always do I parked my car like usual I walked across The street to play lotto no more then 5 min Before going into Pathmark to shop When I come out of the store my car was on Fast Way tow truck being towed to Brooklyn, near the Navy Yard. The driver told me to get the car back it would cost me ($108.00) One Hundred & Eight Dollars So I went to the Pathmark manager. He said He had no control over the situation. When I called the towing company they informed me that Pathmark recently hired a management company, P.S.J., to manage Pathmark’s parking lot. I’m sure that I’m not the only one that this happened to.

A: many people have. it's how they stay in business. If you park illegally, you can get towed

Q: What's the fastes way to get from Brooklyn to Staten Island?
I live in the downtown Brooklyn area (carroll gardens, boerum hill). I used Hopstop.com but whenever I use them to find other places, they give me the very long way. Anyway, is there an easier way to get from Brooklyn to Staten Island using public transportation. (No car) Sorry guys...to be specific I'm trying to go to Water st.

A: Take the 4 or 5 to South Ferry/Bowling Green station. Jump on the Ferry to SI. On the Staten Island side of the Ferry take the LOCAL SIRT train to the Stapelton Station. Get off there go up the block and make a left on Bay St go one block on Bay St and you will be at Water St. It is only a couple of stops from the Ferry,

Q: Should I commute from Staten Island to Hoboken by car?
I live in Staten Island and work in Hoboken, I used to take the express bus from the front door of my house to wtc path station at Manhattan, from there I take the train to Hoboken, takes me about 1 hour and costs me about $14 daily. I moved to new house in Staten Island and now I have to walk for 10 minutes to catch the express bus. I'm thinking of commuting to Hoboken by car. According to Google Maps, I can avoid highways and there will be one toll, I won't have to go through Manhattan. Now my question to experience commuters. Is it worth it ? should I go by car or stick to public transit. I can afford paying a little more for the convenience and comfort of going by car (e.g. parking expenses, gas,..etc). But, will there be a high traffic on the way from Staten Island to Manhattan ?

A: I really do not think you will save any time. It is 40 minutes without traffic. Even though you will not go through the holland tunnel, you will hit traffic from it. It can take me 30-40 minutes to get to Jersey City from Hoboken in the morning with "regular" traffic. Plus I think it will cost you a lot more. Parking will be 300/month and it will take you a lot longer to get your car out of the garage then you think it will

Q: How do i get from staten island to long island university, on dekalb avenue.?
I dont have a car only an unlimited metro card. are there any express buses that go from staten island to L.I.U.

A: Can you please be more spefic on your starting point? Do you have 7-Day Express Bus Plus? If you have local 7-Day Pass, it not accepted on any $5 express bus. Staten Island is huge. Option 1: 1. Take local buses or Staten Island Railway to St. George for free Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan, cross Whitehall St, then take Brooklyn-bound (R) train to DeKalb Av. Option 2: 2. Take local buses that goes to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and take that to 86th St for Manhattan-bound R train. Take that train straight to DeKalb Av. 3. If you're only reachable by $5 express bus, find that express bus that runs along Water-Church St to Battery Park area for Brooklyn-bound (R). Or from Atlantic Express X23/X24 take to 34th St-Herald Sq for Brooklyn-bound Q to DeKalb Av.

Q: How Do I Get To Westfield, NJ From Staten Island, NY Without A Car?
What are the fastest, cheapest and easiest ways to get there?

A: Bus to Penn Station, or to the World Trade Center. The Staten Island Ferry would also work, leaving you within walking distance to the WTC. If at Penn Station, hop on a train that goes to Newark and transfer to the Raritan Valley Line, which will take you to the Westfield train station. If at the WTC, hop on the PATH to Newark, and follow directions above. Your technically backtracking Northbound, but there is no other way without a car, unless you cab it.

Q: Can you park at the staten island ferry and pay to leave your car there for 3 days?
I'm Staying in NYC for 2 nights and I don't want to drive in the city so I wanted to know if I could park my car at the Staten Island ferry on a Sunday and leave it there until Tuesday. I know you have to pay, but I want to make sure the lots are open and if you can pay when you park??? Please help

A: There is no parking on the Manhattan side of the ferry. On the Staten Island side there are very nice new parking facilities. However the ferry no longer accommodates cars into SI (after 9/11 car were no longer allowed on the Ferry's - Another damn thing we have to thank the radical Islamists for). If you wish to drive into SI, park at the ferry, and ferry it back to Manhattan. It may be possible. Parking at the ferry is $5.50 a day. You will need to contact them and see if you can stay in the same spot for 3 days. See this link it has the phone number for the parking org. http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/stipk-01.shtml
