Q: Is there a toll to go to Manhattan from Newark, NJ?
I have been to Newark and New York, but did not go by car. This time we will drive their from San Diego. It is a much cheaper option. Is there some kind of toll to go from NJ to NY?
A: Yes it's 8 dollars to get into NYC from Jersey
Q: How can i get from Newark NJ to Washington DC?
I am from CA but am traveling to NJ to visit my husband at Fort Dix. We would like to go site seeing in DC but i am not sure what the best way would be to get there? I do not want to spend a fortune i am doing that already as it is. Plane, Car, Train, Bus?? Any suggestions?
A: Car, car, car! I live in Northern NJ - right near Newark - and had family just outside DC for many years. I've done this trip a zillion times!
For a reasonble car (30mpg) you can get to DC on one tank of gas or less - - that shouldn't cost you more than $40 each way, total $80. Tolls are about $30 round trip. Give yourself some gas money for riding around - another $40. And its not even the price of one Amtrak or Plane ticket.
I-95 south is all you need.
Try priceline.com for a hotel. If you are decent with directions you can try Arlington or Alexandria for hotels if you need it - - i usually get $50 to $75/night thru priceline in one of those towns and end up at a decent enough hotel. Many hotels offer shuttle service to/from the Metro so you don't even have to drive!!
Q: Where can i find a place to park my car near Newark airport in NJ?
A: Do you mean near or in Newark Airport? There are a variety of parking areas, including a long-term lot, within the airport property.
Q: How to you get from Center city Philly to Newark Nj by public transportation, and how long?
Im goin to the the Giants Stadium but i dorm in Philly so i dont have my car, so i have to relay on train or bus, or watervers cheaper, so plz help me
A: A cheap way to get from Philly to Giants Stadium by public transit is to take the Greyhound Bus into the Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City, then change to the NJ Transit Bus to Giants Stadium. If you are going to a major sporting event, you would take NJ Transit Bus #351, otherwise you would take Bus #164.
You would be doubling-back via Manhattan, but the price of the trip is $29.50.
($23.00 Greyhound Bus advanced purchase, Philly to New York Round-Trip + $6.50 NJ Transit Bus, New York to Giants Stadium Round-Trip)
Q: is transportation system good enough for me to travel from Newark/Jersey City to NYC?
I will have no car, but i wanna rent hotel in Newark/Jersey City area and i'll touring at NYC a lot. any transportation can take me from Newark/Jersey City to NYC every day? Can you also provide me with link/map/details if possible? thanks a lot!
A: It's good, but do you know how far Newark/Jersey City is from NYC without a car?
It takes a while to get there.
You need to take the NJ Transit, then transfer to the PATH Train, then transfer to the MTA at either 14th St. or 34th St. to get to where you need to go.
Depending on how far you are from the nearest NJ Transit train or the PATH Train, it can easily take up to 45 minutes to an hour
Are you sure you want to be walking around in Newark and taking the transit around there? Have you never heard about Newark...?

Q: What is the best way to travel from Newark Airport to Times Square in New York City?
I am travelling to New York City with friends this fall. We are flying into Newark Airport and staying close to Times Square. I have heard that a cab would cost a substantial amount and that we should use the train and subway systems instead, but I am nervous about looking like a total tourist with my luggage in tow and trying to get on to crowded train cars with it. Has anyone done this before and is it easier than I think?
A: I would take a taxi. It may be a lot, but you will split it between you all and it's going to be so much easier with luggage, etc. If it's a one time thing, it shouldn't be bad.
Q: What is the distance between New York City & Newark?
I don't live anywhere near that coast. Its for a series I'm writing and my characters travel between Manhattan and Newark frequently. So, as far as distance and time, how far would it take via car, subway, taxi (basically any transport except plane) to get from Manhattan to Newark?
A: According to the schedules on njtransit.com, New York Penn Station to Newark Penn Station trains take 16-20 minutes.
Q: where can i find cheaper Long term parking at Newark airport?
I am parking my car for 3 days at Newark airport in Jersey. The Long term parking at the airport goes to $15 per day.
Is there a slightly cheaper option around the airport, like a non-airport owned park area.
A: There is no other place as cheap or safer. Newark is a high crime area. Trust me, you are much better off parking your car in the long term parking at the airport.
Besides anything you would gain by finding a cheaper place to park would be lost in the additional cost of using a cab back to the airport and to your car on the return trip.
Q: How much does per day insurance costs while renting a car at Newark , NJ ?
What types of insurances are required to purchase for renting car ?
A: Depends on the coverage your purchasing - you can purchase Damage Waiver (covers your deductible - where your personal auto insurance still is primary); you can purchase liability coverage. Usually liability coverage is around $9.99/day, Damage Waiver about $5.99/day - it depends on the rental car company.
Remember though - your personal auto insurance DOES cover a rental car - it's not necessary to purchase the additional insurance. The prices they charge for insurance - if you do purchase full coverage from the rental car company - could be up to $20/day. Does that sound reasonable to you? It's not. It's how rental car companies make money - so they like to push it on you.
Q: How do I get from Newark Aiport to Carteret, NJ?

A: From the NJRR train station at the airport take you can take anyone of these lines:
* Northeast Corridor Line (NEC)
* North Jersey Coast Line (NJCL)

to the Rahway Station. From Rahway, Carteret is a 3 mile drive from the Rahway Station.
Q: Cheap way to reach Manhattan 34th St from Newark Airport (ERW), no car? What transportation / estimated time?
What is a good and cheap way to reach Manhattan 34th St from Newark Airport (ERW) without a car? What kind of transportation should I use, what number, what is the estimated time I spend to reach Manhattan, 34th St. and at what cost?
Thank you.
A: Okay, so take a cab or the air tran from Newark Airport (EWR) to the train station at Newark Broadstreet. From there, catch a train on NJ transit to Penn Station. If you take a cab, I'm not sure how much it would cost, maybe a little over $10, and then the train will cost a few dollars also, but if you take the air tran (I think it's offered) then I think it would be free to get to the train, plus a few dollars for the train to Penn Station.
Maybe 30 minutes?
Hope this helps!
Q: where to get a picture painted on your car in newark, nj?
Iam gettin a 2002 monte carlo and my son just passed and I wanted to get his face painted on the hood with r.i.p.
A: If you cant find a local, check out the car magazines ( that way you can see the work), for something that important it will be worth the road trip.
Q: What is the quickest, cheapest way to get to Brooklyn from Newark by car.?
I will be driving during rush hours every morning. Once I arrive in Brooklyn will then have to proceed to the Bronx, so a quick route for that trip would help as well. Trying to avoid the tunnels if this is at all possible.
A: Best bet even though you wanna avoid the tunnels Is the Holland Tunnel.... then head over either the Manhattan Bridge or the Brooklyn Bridge... it really all depends on where you have to go in Brooklyn... but that would be my pick If I had to travel from Newark... and to get to the Bronx I would either take the BB or MB back over and pick up the FDR Dr up or you can head threw BK on the BQE take the Triborough Bridge threw Randalls Island and right into the Bronx again all depends on where you gotta go.. good luck also check you google maps.... click satellite view or do the directions thing and should give you some better info... :)
Q: ethics and cars in newark?
i accidedntly hit a few teenagers in downtown newark yesterday (not sure if they were teenagers could have been 12-15 yrs old) it was an accident but i feel kinda bad because there was all this blood on my car and they could have been really hurt, i dont want to get in any trouble with the police but i dont want to have this on my concience, i dont feel that bad so i could just forget about it but im wondering, should i just forget about it or should i like write an im sorry note and send it to them or something?
A: If you left the scene of an accident, I would definitely contact an attorney before you make contact with anybody because you could be essentially confessing to a crime. Every state makes it a crime to leave the scene of an accident, especially if there were injuries. You will have trouble with the police. Please protect yourself first and make amends later.
