Q: for those that were born before 1986?
According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 60's, 70's and early 80's probably shouldn't have survived.... Because our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based paint which was promptly chewed and licked. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, or latches on doors or cabinets and it was fine to play with pans. When we rode our bikes, we wore no helmets, just flip-flops and fluorescent 'spokey dokey's' on our wheels. As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or airbags - riding in the passenger seat was a treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle and it tasted the same. We ate chips, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy juice with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing. We shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and no-one actually died from this. We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went top speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long as we were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us and no one minded. We did not have Play stations or X-Boxes, no video games at all. No 99 channels on TV, no videotape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no DVDs, no Internet chat rooms. We had friends - we went outside and found them. We played elastics and rounders, and sometimes that ball really hurt! We fell out of trees, got cut, and broke bones but there were no law suits. We had full on fist fights but no prosecution followed from other parents. We played knock-the-door-run-away and were actually afraid of the owners catching us. We walked to friends' homes. We also, believe it or not, WALKED to school; we didn't rely on mummy or daddy to drive us to school, which was just round the corner. We made up games with sticks and tennis balls. We rode bikes in packs of 7 and wore our coats by only the hood. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of...they actually sided with the law. This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all, those of us who have had the luck to grow as real kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good. The majority of students in universities today were born in 1986........they are called youth. They have never heard of We are the World, We are the Children, and the Uptown Girl they know is by Westlife not Billy Joel. They have never heard of Rick Astley, Bananarama, Nena Cherry or Belinda Carlisle. To them John Travolta has always been round in shape and they can't imagine how this fat guy could be a god of dance. They believe that Charlie's Angels and Mission Impossible are films from last year. They can never imagine life before computers. They'll never have pretended to be the A-Team, Red Hand Gang or The Famous Five. They'll never have applied to be on Jim'll Fix It or Why Don't You? They can't believe a black and white television ever existed. And they will never understand how we could leave the house without a mobile phone. For them, there has always been only one Germany and one Vietnam. And Michael Jackson has always been white

A: Very True!!! I was born in 1971, the year everyone had to learn all over again what everything was going to cost them! (decimalisation). I would wear slippers to run around outside in, much faster than Nike, Reebok's and the like... Water fights were the norm every summer, but not with water cannons they have today but 2litre Coke bottles with a hole punctured in the top, or a squeezy washing up liquid bottle, which always still had some in it... War games involved sticks or cricket stumps with loud noises coming from the players. And it seemed to snow every year at Christmas, snowman on the front lawn, and snowball fights galore... I wouldn't dare let my kids outside like I was allowed at that age, unfortunately a sign of the times we live in. Thanks for the memories...

Q: I'm going to buy a wagon (300TD): I'm leaning towards the 87 cos it's newer, or should I look at other years?
What, if any, are the problems associated with the different years? I'm planning to run Biodiesel, and I want to buy a car that doesn't need much, if any, work. I'll be driving on hills, and don't want smoke. AC is a must. I've seen some 85's, but am drawn to the 87 (I guess because they're newer). What is the "Cherry" year for a wagon?

A: The 87 300TD is the only 6 cylinder that came to the US in a wagon. My family has three. Each has over 240000 miles on them and are just getting broken in. Highway mileage is mid-30mpg and they love to strech their legs. They have been one of the best investments I have every made. Finding a good one today will still cost you a pretty dime or two but if it has been well cared for will last you double anything else out there Listed a couple sites with pictures so you know what you are looking at Have fun finding a good one. Then enjoy the experience

Q: Can someone paraphrase the poem The Stolen Child??
I don't understand this poem one bit!!!! can someone please paraphrase it line by line for me??? The Stolen Child WHERE dips the rocky highland Of Sleuth Wood in the lake, There lies a leafy island Where flapping herons wake The drowsy water rats; There we've hid our faery vats, Full of berrys And of reddest stolen cherries. Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand. Where the wave of moonlight glosses The dim gray sands with light, Far off by furthest Rosses We foot it all the night, Weaving olden dances Mingling hands and mingling glances Till the moon has taken flight; To and fro we leap And chase the frothy bubbles, While the world is full of troubles And anxious in its sleep. Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand. Where the wandering water gushes From the hills above Glen-Car, In pools among the rushes That scare could bathe a star, We seek for slumbering trout And whispering in their ears Give them unquiet dreams; Leaning softly out From ferns that drop their tears Over the young streams. Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand. Away with us he's going, The solemn-eyed: He'll hear no more the lowing Of the calves on the warm hillside Or the kettle on the hob Sing peace into his breast, Or see the brown mice bob Round and round the oatmeal chest. For he comes, the human child, To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than he can understand. help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

A: I'm sorry, I didn't like paraphrasing poetry when I had a class on it, and this poem is really long. I'm pretty bad at figuring out the meaning of poems anyway.

Q: Moving to Sydney from NYC, is transport close to comparable?
Hey everyone, so first off I will most likely be taking the permanent dive under to Sydney having lived in NYC for 24 years now. However, I am mostly hesitant because I can't imagine the transport coming anywhere close to being what I am used to. I don't quite have the money saved for a car & would need to take a few lessons before I could consider that a viable means of transport. So really, my question is has anyone made such a move and found the public transport easy to come by? I know I will be in an area close to city...somewhere near a place called Cherry Hill? I'd have to ask the bf where he lives again lol buts in either in Inner/North Sydney. My main dilemma is that I won't be able to adjust (I despise buses and for weird reasons opt to not take them..its been about 15 years since stepping foot in one)..so any advice, suggestions and such would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

A: Unfortunately Sydney doesn't have a great metro transport system like New York. But depending on where you will live, there are still train lines - just not as developed and intricate as New York's. You need to find out exactly where you're going to live if you want to get a proper answer. If you're in North Sydney then rains and buses are really good. I don't think you need a car if you live here. Cherry Hill doesn't ring any bells, and 'inner Sydney' could be anywhere! So recheck your location. If you're not near a train station, then buses can take a while to get used to. I recommend an extensive iPod play list, and lots of books! All the best.

A: 1.Mp3 player is always a "must have" 2. Dvd player 3. This may sound funny but boardgames for the car 4. Bring a couple of Magazines and books with you that you enjoy. 5. Stay up really late so you can relax and sleep for hours and have fun sleeping in the car (bring a pillow to) 6. Brink a notebook and some colored pencils and some pictures so you can try to sketch them. 7. Work on something boring that you would never want to do in the car! ( I am running out of ideas) 8. Make poems about your trip 9. Think of really good business ideas on your notepad that you may want to do in future reference. 10. bring some kind of small musical instrument to play in the car (if it doesnt annoy your parents) 11. Text your friends the whole way there. 12. Bring your portable videogames if you have any. 13. Buy something awesome that would keep you entertained for a while. 14. Eat Food 15. Try to figure out why E equals M and C squared! 16. think of ideas that are brilliant. lol.............. The reason why I looked at this question was to look for answers because I am going on a 6 hour road trip but I guess I answered my own question. Hope this helps your boredom.

Q: I think I may have bought a car somebody please help me?
I went to cherry Hill Triplex in new jersey and they told me I had to co-sign for my nephew to get a car,He got it very nice sports car,but now that I am home I have really been thinking then talking to my best friend really has me thinking.I notice I had to sign at the part that says owner and he signed the part that says co-signer,would they trick me and really I bought the car,Like I'm really confused.Did I buy the car or did I really co-sign for my nephew to get the car, even the T tags say my name as the owner his name is no where on it.I will be very mad and how will I get out of it if that is the case becuase I should have asked questions before signing anything.Somebody please explain.

A: you bought a car. your name is listed as the provisional owner,,the finance company is the primary owner. The car will have to be registered in your name. You will be responsible for anything that goes on with that car. Accidents and all. You should get the keys and take physical possession of that car before something happens and you lose everything you own. You are the legal owner of the car. You nephew is not.

Q: SO ANNOYING!!! HELP ME!!! AHHHHA!a?
Does anyone else agree that the commercials at the Cherry Hills Triplex with Cars and that guy who yells very loud ARE VERY, VERY ANNOYING?

A: i hate him hes always yell why aren't you hear yet besides that's only for qualified buyers anyway meaning you have to have VERY good credit

Q: Should Police Be Arresting People For Asking For Directions?
BALTIMORE -- Baltimore City police arrested a Virginia couple over the weekend after they asked an officer for directions. WBAL-TV 11 News I-Team reporter David Collins said Joshua Kelly and Llara Brook, of Chantilly, Va., got lost leaving an Orioles game on Saturday. Collins reported a city officer arrested them for trespassing on a public street while they were asking for directions . "In jail for eight hours -- sleeping on a concrete floor next to a toilet," Kelly said. "It was a nightmare," Brook said. "I was in there thinking I was just dreaming and waiting to wake up." Collins reported it was a nightmare ending to a nearly perfect day. He said the couple went to a company picnic and watched the Orioles beat Kansas City. It was their first trip to Camden Yards and asked two people for directions to Interstate 95 South when they left. Collins said somehow they ended up in the Cherry Hill section of south Baltimore. Hopelessly lost, relief melted away concerns after they spotted a police vehicle. "I said, 'Thank goodness, could you please get us to 95?" Kelly said. "The first thing that she said to us was no -- you just ran that stop sign, pull over," Brook said. "It wasn't a big deal. We'll pay the stop sign violation, but can we have directions?" "What she said was 'You found your own way in here, you can find your own way out.'" Kelly said. Collins said the couple spotted another police vehicle and flagged that officer down for directions. But Officer Natalie Preston, a six-year veteran of the force, intervened. "That really threw us for a loop when she stepped in between our cars," Kelly said. "(She) said my partner is not going to step in front of me and tell you directions if I'm not." Collins reported the circumstances got worse. Kelly pulled 40 feet forward parking next to a curb and put his flashers on while Brook was on the phone to her father hoping he could help her with directions. Both her parents are police officers in the Harrisburg, Pa., area. "(Brook's father) was in the middle of giving us directions when the officer screeched up behind us and got out of the car and asked me to step out. I obeyed," Kelly said. "I obeyed everything -- stepped out of the car, put my hands behind my back, and the next thing I know, I was getting arrested for trespassing." "By this time, I was completely in tears," Brook said. "I said, 'Ma'am, you know, we just need your help. We are not trying to cause you any trouble. I'm not leaving him here.' What she did was walk over to my side of the car and said, 'Ok, we are taking you downtown, too.'" Collins said the couple was released from jail without being charged with anything. Brook is now concerned the arrest may complicate a criminal background check she's going through in her job as a child care worker. Collins said police left Kelly's car unlocked and the windows down at the impound lot. He reported a cell phone charger, pair of sunglasses and 20 CDs were stolen. Baltimore City police said they are looking into the incident.

A: The answer is no. The responses from some of the "officers" who answered is prime example that there is a major problem in this country with officers abusing the law. Making excuse for officers is pathetic. IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THE JOB QUIT don't take it out on john q. public. You knew what you were getting into.

Q: Why do People look at me weird when they find out I live in Cherry Hills Village?
Or drive a nicer car? Is it so wrong?

A: They feel sorry for you, knowing that you're going to suffer when you're going to support yourself.

Q: Anyone recommend a great car wash in the Cherry Hill, NJ area?
Just bought a new car, looking for an affordable car wash service that does excellent interior and exterior work, preferably for under $40

A: yeah.. it's called your left and right hand & your vacuum... ...thats how I do mine. no point in paying for it, when I'll get it the way i want it by my self.
