My car is very sluggish in the morning. It is a 2005 highlander. is this a winter, car is cold thing or engine trouble. Also, is it a must that highlander be heated before driving in winter weather

Q: Can I register my car in New Jersey if I live in California without driving there?
I have a valid California and New Jersey drivers license. I bought a car in California but I want to register it in New Jersey without driving it there. How would I go about doing things like getting a New Jersey smog check in California? Or is there some sort of waiver im not aware of? Im also in the military if that helps any.

A: Since you are active duty military, you can either register your car in CA or NJ. Virtually all states have a waiver program for military personnel that will allow you to register your car in your home state without traveling there for a smog or safety inspection, however you will only have a very few days to take care of that once you return to NJ, even if only for a visit. Contact a DMV office in NJ for the procedures. The issue of 2 driver's licenses is a matter of concern. Unless these are different types of licenses (say ordinary NJ license and motorcycle in CA) you may only have a valid license in ONE state at a time. At least one state, FL, does allow for a "snowbird" license for seasonal residents. It's valid in FL only so does not violate the Federal law on one license per person. (And if either license if a CDL, having more than one is a Federal felony.)

Q: Bought a car in New jersey, car dealer lost the title, been a month what do i do?
The dealer said he is waiting on the dmv, that was two weeks ago, I know it doesnt take that long on a new title.

A: Oh don't be too sure, the DMV can take up to 6 weeks or more. If you are really certain the title is lost, you can apply for a new one at the DMV. My husband does it all the time when he buys very old cars.

Q: Is it legal in New Jersey for dealers to sell used cars on Sunday?

A: Title 2C, the NJ criminal code, still includes a prohibition on selling cars on Sunday. I don't believe it's really enforced but it provides a nice out if you don't want to sit through a sales pitch on a Sunday.

Q: What are the cheapest cars (or at least moderately inexpensive cars) to insure in NEW JERSEY??

A: Well, there are lots of companies online that you could get a free car insurance quote rate. You just fill-up the form and then compare it among the others. There are certain factors in getting your cheap car insurance. Depends on the car, state, age, driving record, etc. Don't go with sports cars and new model cars. They have expensive auto insurance. Stay with coupe or any used sedan cars. You might want to check this out: http://www.autoinsuranceselect.com/state/new-jersey-auto-insurance.html Good luck on your search... Drive safe... :)

Q: What is the New Jersey law for infants riding in cars? How long does he remain backwards?

A: there are some strange people on yahoo answers, i mean seriously who would keep their child rearfacing until theyre 30lbs? my son is 30lbs and he is turning 3 this july. but anyways to answer your question, it all depends on what kind of vehicle you drive. if you have a truck with two seats and you can turn your airbags off with a key then your child can sit in a front facing car seat after they are one. i have a 4door sedan and my son has been facing forward in his car seat in the back seat since right before he was one. it really depends on the size of your child and how they developed not their weight really. that more determines when you can put them in a booster. after 30lbs they can sit in a booster seat and after they are atleast 4'10'' they can sit in a car seat on their own

Q: Is Astratown Cars in New Jersey a good place to buy a used car? has anybody got any experience with them?
i'm looking for verification on trust, service, price anything really that will allow me to decide if i should buy from them or not... i am buying from out of town ( from Canada ) so i can not go and check them out locally. thanks

A: I do not know about that dealership but Carmax has some locations in NJ which are above board when it comes to trust, service and price. I'm not sure if Carmax is equipped to handle sales to Canadians - you need to check on the policies regarding importing cars from the US to Canada and call the Carmax store before traveling down here.

Q: new jersey state tax : I bought two cars in 2006 in New jersey,Can I deduct the sales taxed ??
I paid a lot of sales taxes on theses new cars. I don't know if I can deduct theses taxes from the taxes I have to pay in New Jersey ?? Thank you

A: If you are not itemizing your deductions , no you could not. If you are itemizing your deductions on Schedule A, rather than taking the standard deduction, then yes. Do you have any other itemized deductions, real estate property taxes, mortgage interest, medical expenses that exceed 7.5%of your Adjusted Gross income? Compare what you have in itemized deductions to what the standard deduction is for your filing status. Use the figure that is going to allow you to subtract the most from your income. If you have any questions call the Internal Revenue Service at 1-800-829-1040

Q: How come people can't pump there own gas for there cars in New Jersey?
I live in New Jersey and at gas stations, we aren't allowed to pump our own gas. They have someone do it for them. Why is that? I hate it. It is the same thing in Oregon.

A: It's pressure from labor rights groups for the attendants. They rationalize it by saying that consumers top-off which is bad for the environment and it's safer for consumers because they don't have to get out of their cars. It's basicaly just a big scam.
