Q: Does anybody know where i can see a video of the old nyc subway cars being transported by rail to illinois?
A: Not sure, but there is picture and one time when I was riding Rockland Coach 11C from Spring Valley to George Washington Bridge, I spotted new R-160 cars carried on flatbed through George Washington Bridge.
Q: Can I lease a car from Wisconsin when I am an Illinois Resident?
In Illinois if you lease a car you have to pay tax on the entire value of the car as opposed to Wisconsin where you only pay tax on your lease payment. Therefore am I able to lease a car from Wisconsin, as an Illinois resident and drive it in Illinois without having to pay the ridiculous full taxes on the car in Illinois? Thanks.
A: It's not where you lease, it's where you register and "garage" the car. You cannot avoid the Illinois tax. If it were so easy, everyone would be doing it.
Illinois is the most "lease unfriendly" state in the country. Get this: you not only have to pay full sales tax when you lease, but if you decide you want to purchase your car at lease-end, you have to pay sales tax AGAIN.
Q: How many cars am I allowed to sell in Illinois without having to get a dealer license?
A: Last time I checked, it was 6. I know the limit in Indiana is still 6. That means you can only sell 6 vehicles titled in your name in 1 years time. You can check with the DMV if you would like. I hope this helps.
Q: Is there a law on used cars that are lemons in Illinois?
I know the Illinois lemon only pertains to new cars...is there any law for used cars?!?!? HELP!!!!
A: Yes..and no...there is no actual "used car" Lemon Law, but unless sold "AS IS" you do have certain rights...Quote:
Under the Uniform Commercial Code there is an implied warranty of merchantability, which means that a car will be fit for its ordinary purpose. This implied warranty applies to used as well as new cars. Illinois courts have consistently held that buyers have minimum expectations - that the car will provide reliable and safe transportation. The failure of the car to do so is a violation of the implied warranty of merchantability.
So you might have a chance...but you will probably have to deal with a lawyer and the court system.
Good luck..
Q: What is the law about leaving a toddler alone in a car in Illinois?
My daughter attends a very nice preschool in illinois. There is a woman with a 2 year old that constantly leaves her in her van to go get her other daughter. The toddler is always unbuckeled and sometimes is even eating snacks that can easily be choked on. The toddler plays with all the cars controls and the whole situation can be potentially harmful. What is the law? The school is not a quick pick up, you wait in a line with 36 other parents and go down 2 long halls, the vehilcle isn't even in sight!
A: It is illegal and irresponsible. You might even try gently saying something to her, maybe she is to unmindful to think anything about it. I saw this happen in a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia with a ten day old baby in a Lincoln Navigator. The mother was absent for 30+ minutes. We called the police, because who knows maybe someone abducted the mother. When the police arrived the mother still had not returned, they sent one policeman into the stores nearby to look for her and the firefighters were about to break the car window to get the baby out, when they located the mother three stores down at a stationary store. She said she lost track of time, and didn't think it was a problem. The baby was only ten days old mind you. Needless to say, she got arrested, taken to jail, and charged with a felony. Her sister had to be called to come and take the baby home, because she was too embarrassed to call her husband. The police officers said they take this matter very seriously and that it enrages them to see this occur so often. The moral of the story is absolutely never leave your child unattended in a vehicle, it is not worth the consequences that could occur to them or you.
Q: Trying to sell my car in Illinois but my car is registered in New York?
I just moved from New York state to Illinois two months ago.
However, my company plans me to move me to the office in California.
I'm trying to sell my car in Illinois before I move to California and planning to buy a new or used car over there.
I don't plan on changing my title, insurance, registration from NY to Illinois since I'm changing my car and live in California.
How can I sell an out-of-state registered car?
A: You shouldn't have any problem selling it with a NY title. The person who is buying your car should just be able to take the NY title to the DMV to transfer ownership. It might just take a little longer for the paperwork to be done. You may want to check with the DMV in Illinois just to be sure, as motor vehicle laws do vary from state to state.
Q: Donated cars to low income People in Illinois?

Q: does the three day return policy apply to used cars in Illinois?
I purchased a car and took it back the same day within an hour the check engine light was on. the dealer said they fixed the problem but yesterday it came back on I took it to a parts store to run a diagnostics on it they told me to take the car back it will cost upwards of $ 400.00 to fix it. I have had the car in my possession only from 4:00PM April 21 2006. it is now 3:26 PM April 23 of 2006. The paper work on the car says as is. So do I have a legal right to return the car and get a refund of my money? I have put a little over 70 miles on the car
A: it is my understanding that the "cooling off period" does not apply when you purchase the vehicle at the dealership. Many places in IL offer a one month or 1,000 mile warranty on power train or the big stuff. However, your seems to be an as is deal. Maybe you could ask them to pay for half and do the work themselves? Don't know if there is a good alternative for you, because you will never prove that the vehicle had been rigged for the light to go off before purchase or not. Best of luck!
Q: Is there auto ferries between Hawaii and the West Coast because I see cars with Hawaiian license in Illinois?
where I live and as you all know that Hawaii is off the West Coast hundreds of miles in Pacific Ocean. So I would like to know is there ferries between Hawaii and West Coast or is there other ways to carry the cars over.
A: No ferries. People ship their cars via container ships, or large cargo aircraft.
Q: Why do cars from Illinois have cheaper prices then any other cars?
I live in GA,Recently i been trying to buy a car, and i noticed that this car is way cheaper then any other car, and it had like 50,000 Miles on it!! it was for the price of a 150,000+ Miles car. the person who sells it tells me that the car runs good, and thru SquareTrade we do business, and if i dont like the car as described i can return it in 3 days, have any of yall heard about this website and this kind of deal and about SquareTrade. the perosn just told me he really needs the mone now because he went thru this surgery, and is trying to sell as fast as possible. Oh also he said the car hasnt been thru any severe weather. so im wondering.. and now hes selling the car from FL. he said he just been up in Illinois several times but kept the car in the garage. the car is a 2000 model
A: Anything is a possibility. I do suggest that you get a carfax on the car. But just so you know that carfax only shows you stuff that has been reported to the vin. I the car has been in a miner fender bender, the owner might not have taken it to a repair shop that will report on the vin. I live and sell cars in Illinois. It is quit possible that the person selling does not know the market. Good luck. Check kelly blue book value for the city he lives in in Illinois. That will tell you if our market swings lower then yours does.
