Q: How to I get my records to my new ward?(LDS probably know best)?
I moved a month ago from North Augusta to Charleston SC, and now that I have a car, I can finally start going back to church. Who do I need to talk to? Should I call my old bishop's sec and have him send them, or do I need to get the new one to ask for them? This new ward is so much bigger than my old one, I don't know who the bishop is, AND to make matters much more confusing, there's a young singles branch.(I'm a young single.) I don't know anything. Information overload. Maybe the young singles have a different leadership? I'm not sure, I've only been to sacrament once since I've been here...Help!

A: I would suggest going to the singles branch, talk to the ward clerk (his info should be in the program every week). and get your records transferred there. Singles wards and branches always need "fresh" people, and they're usually a lot of fun. I'd still go to one as a married person if they let me :-)

Q: how to go to the masters golf from nyc or ft lauderdale?
having recovered from lung surgery i have 2 tix (1 extra ) to tues april 3 rd.i have a car in ft laud , 10 hrs from augusta or should i fly from my nyc home to columbia or atlanta n rent a car. i have i nite in marriott , 60 min from augusta.after the round its onto ft laud by car or fly. almost to confusing and expensive to go,but its been a dream n now i cant back out. any serious advise . 54 male

A: if i was you...i would drive from ft. lauderdale to the masters and then back to ft. lauderdale. it will be a lot less hassle and probably less expensive than doing all the driving. never back out of a chance to go to the masters!!! even if it is to expensive...it will be a historic moment for you and a historic moment for whoever goes. i went to the masters in 1999, 2002, 2006, and i am going again this year. that is what i would do... even if it is a 10 hr drive... it is totally worth it.. the masters is an amazing golf tournament to be at! have fun!

Q: Will they still come after me?
I bought a car from Ugly Duckling in 2001. It fell apart in 3 months, and we gave it back to them. My last payment was in Feb.,2002. There is a statute of Limitations in Ga, of 6 years. The Duck sold their Accounts Receivable to Associated Receivables, in Augusta Ga, in 2005. We have gotten Interrogitories from them in Feb. of 2007. Can we expect that they will come after us before March when the SOL is expired?

A: If the repo happened in late 2001, early 2002 then you are already out of the collecting SOL A repo voids the original contract. Since the original contract is void, it no longer falls under the states written SOL statutes. The repo deficiency falls under the UCC for a 4 year SOL. (Article 2, § 2-725(1) of the UCC) The 4 year SOL starts to run on the date the vehicle was sold that created the deficiency - which is generally a month or so after the repo. If Ugly Duckling failed to send all of the required notices or failed to sell the vehicle in a legal and timely manner, then the deficiency cannot be claimed and repo becomes void and no longer legally collectible. (Article 9, §9.506 of the UCC and your states RISA & MVISA statutes) Have they already filed suit ?? Were you served ?? I ask because creditors and collectors generally do not send out interrogatories unless it is for a filed law suit. If you were never served, you should contact your county court clerk and ask if anything had been filed in your name. If there is a suit filed in your name, go to the court clerk and request a complete copy of the file. BE SURE the service papers are included in that copy !!! If you had been sewer served, you may want to find a lawyer. To not only have the case dropped for improper service but to also request a counterclaim against them for their violation. If they followed your states service laws and the suit was filed "after" 4 years had passed since they resold the vehicle, you can still use an affirmative defense of SOL (plus file a counterclaim against them for filing suit on a time barred debt) If there is no suit filed, I don't know why they would send you a Discovery (maybe they are just weird) you might send them a letter informing them the collecting SOL had passed. You might click on my profile on here and click on the last link I have listed. Go into the Credit Forum and ask where you can find the Repo Letter sample template. The repo letter has all of the info on it - UCC, case law to back up the SOL, etc. (if they had filed suit, that case law may also help you) The site is a free site and the sample letter is also free. If you have any problems understanding the repo letter or you are unsure of exactly what to do, feel free to ask in that forum.

Q: Speeding/Reckless driving citation in Virginia (Augusta county)?
I received a reckless driving ticket for doing 83mph in a 65mph zone while driving on I-81 south. I was on a motorcycle in the middle of a pack of four bikes following two cars, all of us going the same speed, and the state cop pulled me over??? I asked him why he would pick me out of the middle of the pack, and he said that the laser locked on me. I am scheduled to go to court next week. Does this seem possible for him to lock on me, and can I at least get this reduced to a speeding violation instead of reckless???????? Thank you for your advice.

A: The laser is very accurate and pins down a specific vehicle. You were just unlucky enough to get snagged, even though you were planning on the safety of numbers. An officer can only do so much when there are a number of vehicles speeding.

Q: Brak wants to know, "Why are people regretting 2008"?
This was a splendid year just like many others I have had in the past. I visited my old area 3 times, I went to Ocean City, MD, I went to Wrightsville beach nearly 9 times, I went to Augusta, GA, I swam a whole lot, Payed my car off, Moved out again successfully. This has been a pleasent year for me mostly. What went wrong for people this year? What did you like about 2008?

A: The point of "regretting" 2008 is that it was a watershed year. This year will change how things in this country will go for a very very long time. The election for one biggie. We elected a new president and have no clue yet how he will manage things for us. The failure of the economic situation in the U.S. and the rest of the world could bring down lots of countries including this one. The number of elected officials who have been misusing the trust put in them has been at an astronomical rate. The wars that are being staged and waged around the world stretching our military to the limit of their resources. Also the fact that young men and women are not enlisting in the military any longer. The attrition rate of the ones getting out as soon as their enlistment time is up is huge. The fact that college education is fast becoming beyond the reach of the average person in the country means we will be losing lots of minds that we desperately need. It is no longer possible to have a part time job and go to college. Used to be you could work and go to school but no longer is that enough. The fact that you had a great year warms my heart but think of all the people in the country who have lost their jobs or are about to. They all have families and now no income and no health care. Many of them have children or close family members with health issues that no longer will be covered by insurance.

Q: If you rent out your condo through a real estate agency how much commission do they charge?
We have a condo in Augusta we rarely use (buildt in 2004 , 1400 square feet, has a single car garage) and are considering renting it out but don't want the hassel of finding tenants or collecting the rent.

A: I have a property managed by an agency. They charge me 10% of the rent per month, and a $350 "finder's fee" everytime they sign a new lease (even with the current tenant, so basically every year). I'm guessing that's probably pretty standard.

Q: Can I sell just a auto title if I dont have the car?
I sold the car. The buyer had 300 left on the payment And I haven't heard from him in 3 months. Last I heard, the car was impounded in Augusta GA. I dont care about the car necessarily but I would still like to get compensated for the title if I can. Any advice? Besides Title Pawn/Loaning

A: So you still own the car? Then you are responsible for the car and the impound charges. It`s your car, if the title is still in your name. You can`t just sell a title without the car. You are still responsible.

Q: is there an organization in augusta ga that will help a person to get a free pair of eye glasses?
in april i had surgery on my left eye, the doctor gave me a prescrip tion for a new pair of glasses. The problem is that im on disability, i cant afford to buy glasses out of my pocket, and to make matters worse, i accidently backed over the glasses that i already have, wi th my car. i had opened my car door to get out one night, and i didn t notice that my glasses had fell under the car. i backed up so that i could see if i could straddle them, but one of my tires rolled over them. i tried to get medicaid to pay for them for me, but i was told that they dont do that for adults? i was also told that if i had medica id and medicare, then i could get my glasses paid for? i came acro ss the Lyons club, and the Kawanas club, but i couldnt get up eno ught information to contact them. i contacted my eye doctor, but i couldnt get any help from them? i dont know what to do? my eyes hurt from the strain of daily usage, without my glasses, and i have blured vision everyday. thanks

A: Here is the link for the Lion's club http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/content/about_index.shtml On the home page, go to VISION PROGRAMS. Call the St. Vincent de Paul society at your nearest Catholic Church. Not all of them are helpful, but some are. I believe that the Vision Works chain has some kind of program. I am not sure. Ask your caseworker for Medicaid/Medicare to tell you where EXACTLY you can find the rule that they do not help with glasses. You want the publication, page number and paragraph. Sometimes they don't know, sometimes they don't care. I too, am on disability. Call the Ministerial Associaton for your city. They may know of a source. I hope one, or a comination of these things helps you.

Q: where can i find a cheap car in augusta ga?

A: Check the classifieds of the Augusta Chronical. I know the name of the newspaper, because I used to live there

Q: I'm from Augusta,GA moving to NYC (upper east side)?
How can I move my stuff up to NYC in storage from Augusta, GA and I have no car to take it up there and I never drove a car before. What should I do? I also want to find an apartment for under $1,000 and stay at a cheap hotel for under $100. What should I do?

A: 1000 bucks for rent... you going to need to move to brooklyn , queens, and the bronx or get a roomate or two. Otherwise manhattan is outta the question. ( unless you know someone.) Hotel for less than 100 ? your gonna have to stay in a hostel ... NYC and San Fran run neck and neck for most expensive places to live... On the good side, the best way to get in and out of new york is the train so you dont have to worry about that part !!!
