Q: car pricing and gouging?
I would like to know when you go to a new car dealer, How they can add more money to a cars price other than whats is already on the sticker. Examble, Lakeland Dodge advertises a new Dodge Challenger with a sticker price of $41,000.00 Then when you inquire about the price they tell you that they tack on another $10,000.00 - $20,000.00 on top of that and say that is is supply and demand. Do the Auto manufactures know this is going on? Do they allow for this to happen. I realize that there are cost involved, but after you see the sticker price? Please find out the answer to this and let the local news companies investigate this. I feel the dealership is trying to inflate the prices to line there own pockets.
A: Sorry, man. This isn't anything new or novel.
If you went to the local news media and told them about this, they'd just shake their heads and move on.
Dealers usually don't automatically add $10-20K over sticker on hot-ticket items. They don't have to. Challengers were going for over sticker before they hit dealer floors. Thousands of people lined up and pretty much said "I'll pay whatever you're asking". Then, someone else walked in and said, "I'll pay $500 on top of that". As you know, it steamrolls into a bidding war.
So, please, don't blame the dealers on this. Demand dictates price. People are willing to pay that much for that car. I saw someone today with a new Challenger, and asked him what he paid for it. He replied, "I offered the dealer $60K for it, and signed papers before it even came off the truck". He wanted that car badly, apparently, and was willing to pay that much for it. However, I worked years ago at a dealer who had a '01 Trans Am WS6 on the floor, and were asking $10K over sticker for it. It sat for months. So, it does backfire at times.
Funny... people come on here and complain all the time about having to pay a premium to own a Challenger/Corvette, etc. However, nobody complains about folks paying $5000 or so over sticker for a Prius. It's just called "the price of going green". When dealers get that much over sticker for a Prius, it's "ok". When they ask that much for a sports car or SUV, it's "gouging". I've always enjoyed that double-standard.
Q: Do I have any right if the landlot keep sitting in his car watching my mobile home, and at night I hear noise?

A: I would start writing every thing down, What happened, Date and Time, Or where you were at when you were not home. Also call the police and get them involved. if you can, somehow also take pictures of him or the guy who is sitting in the car watching you. get the make, model and drivers plate license, of the car. If you see him again in the car call the police. If you still have problems get A friend to stay over and be a wittiness for you if you have any more problems.
Q: HELP I put regular gas in my Jeep Liberty diesel car---?
I had it towed home as I was leaving on a vacation---when I get back ===who do I take it to---what can I expect---will the car ever be the same again I live in the haines city area in Florida---I live near lakeland and orlando---thanks for your answers
A: you need to take it to a dealer. do not try to start it under any circumstances. just turning the key to the run position is pumping the has up to the engine. the gas has no lubrication proplerties that the common rail diesel system needs. this means that the high pressure fuel pump will be damaged permanently to an extent, and the metal that comes off of the pump pistons will be forced into the fuel injectors. the metal cannot be removed from the injectors and they too would have to be replaced. if its driven with metal in the injectors, it changes the spray pattern and the potential 26000 pounds of fuel pressure can cut a hole in a piston or in a valve. if you do not start the jeep, you will avoid potential $8-10000 worth of damage. this would be more towards worst case scenario, but this damage happens more quickly than you could imagine-common rail engines are extremely precise-the high pressure pump pistons are so precise, if you hold one in your had and then try to intall it in the pump, the heat from your hand swells it enough that it will not fit untill it cools. to make a long story short, they will have to remove your fuel tank, drain and dry it out. the line from the tank must be free of gas, and the fuel filter will need to be changed. the whole thing will probably cost less than $200 plus tow bill. don't feel too bad, i've had to rescue of few of these.

by the way this car has 96,000 miles on it.
i wish i could keep my saturn, it is a nice car the only problem is, it has no a/c and floridians know this is essential, and also there is motor issues, i have a oil leek somewhere, also the transmission is leeking, & i have this feeling that the transmission is next, its pretty much the only thing under my hood that hasnt been replaced yet, and there is just so many things wrong with my saturn. and i could finanace a vehicle but im trying to move out into a apt. so im not for all the car payments,. itll just be me.
also within the link it has a link to the carfax/ on vehicle history report on the right hand top side of the cars picture. and i know that this vehicle comes from GA. in 02/24/2006 looking up the vin on the FL dmv website.
And YES for real they want 900.00 i drive past it every morning, and i called about it. its just that i was actually able to find a picture of it online.
A: Seems to be a good price, I would drive the Saturn until it didn't run any more , not for nothing but repairs on Saab's are pretty expensive.
Q: How do you deal with trespassers in your property? We live in Lakeland, Florida.?
Today 2 supposedly cable men entered our property while we were gone (for 20 min only) and they had unlocked our gate and jumped our backyard fence to get to the other side. When we got home they were there then I called the cops. We do have a no tresp. sign on our mailbox in the frontyard, they said they didnt see it. As we were waiting for the cops to come, these 2 got in their van and ran away. My husband and I hopped into our car and followed them while on the phone with the 911 dispatcher. We finally caught up with them and the 3 cop cars stopped them. At the end the cops said we can't do anything because they are cable men, they have the right to walk into our property. But they had no id with them, no uniform, and we weren't home, they unlocked our gate and jumped the back fence, to me this is an invasion! They said the only thing we can do is contact Bright House Network because they are subcontractors and make a complaint. Is that it? They were very unprofessional!
I am the wife... using the husband yahoo id, sorry I didn't clarify that!!!! :-)
NO, we don't have any contracts with Bright House!! They were servicing the person who lives to the back of our property, and they could have entered their place through their yard! That's the funny thing, why did they have to used my yard for that??? It was none of my business!!
A: You can call the cable company - you do not have to deal with their vendors; they should have some sort of identification and/or a work order to show that their presence on your property is legitimate. Sorry to hear of it, you did everything right.

Q: Should I stay in Tampa or Lakeland?
I will be going to lakeland florida to se the detroit tigers in spring training. I will be flying to tampa and renting a car. i was wondering if you would reccemd me staying in tampa? or lakeland? I've been told from tampa to lakeland its about 30 min. I don't know anyone in the area
I've been told that there isnt a heck of a lot to do in lakeland other than watch baseball. Should I stay in tampa and just go to lakeland on game days? Or should I just room in lakeland?
*I'll be going with a buddy of mine. We're both college kids and tight on money so staying at the Sheraton or Hyatt isnt a option for us. The prices would have to be $55 and below. Were staying mar 7th-14th
Thanks,
Nick and Joe
How far of a drive is it from Tampa to Lakeland?
A: I would definitely stay in Tampa. There is so much more to do in Tampa. Besides if you wanted to go to the beaches on the gulf coast you are a lot closer.
One bit of a hint of a hotel - Ramada on Morris Bridge Road is right off the highway (I-75) and you would go South till you picked up I-4 and then go East. (or any other hotel in that area)
From there you could get to Lakeland in 30mins and Clearwater Beach in 45mins. Plus your also 10 mins away from Busch Gardens.
Have fun :)
Q: how far is lakeland florida from the Tampa International airport?
I plan on seeing the Detroit tigers in lakeland in march. I'm from Detroit so I would most likely fly to Tampa. I have been told that the airport is 1 hour away from lakeland. Do you know how these tigers fans do it? Do all of them just drive from Detroit to lakeland?
I understand i can rent a car at the airport but since i'm under 25 the cost is sky high.
I won't be able to drive down there but how will i be able to do this? any help is appreciated. if anyone is willing to email me i would appreciate it. i have a lot of questions

Student in college
A: It's an hour from the Tampa Airport to Lakeland. It's about 50 miles.
Shop around and you might find a car rental company that doesn't really sock it to those under 25. Public tranit in Florida is horrible, so it won't be an option.
Q: Detroit Tigers Lakeland FL.?
I live in Detroit and I would like to see the tigers in spring training in march. But I had a few questions.
1.) I will be going alone and I understand the closest airport to lakeland is tampa
2. I've heard that the airport is quite a distance from the park. How do tiger fans go down to lakeland? Do they just rent a car for a few days at the airport than drive to there hotel?
3.) What would you reccemend me to do?
I am a college student so i am on a tight budget
Thank you for all suggestions
Nick...21
A: Joker Marchant Stadium, which is a beautiful facility by the way, is about 45min. from Tampa International and a little over an hour from Orlando International.
The only thing I could suggest is checking Craigslist for a possible rideshare. There are always people travelling between Tampa and Orlando and you might be able to get dropped off in Lakeland for cheap or even free!
Q: Aug. 12th 2007-early morning, car accident around Lakeland,S.Carolina?
Cadilac car involed
A: okk? What's the question?
Q: What rental car companies are open on sunday?
I live in lakeland fl and budget, hertz, and Enterprise are all closed on sunday and I need to rent a car, with no more than a $200 deposit. I tried avis-- their open but want a 400 deposit. Same with budget.
the tampa airport is too far away
A: Go to the airport in Tampa and they should all be open.
Q: I will be going to lakeland Fl. Which is the best airport to arrive in?
Which airport is the best airport to arrive in- Orlando, Stanford or Tampa? What is the most easiest way to get to lakeland and also doesn't cost a fortune? I don't drive so hiring a car wouldn't be an option. And could anyone also advise me how to get from the airport (Orlando, Stanford or Tampa) to lakeland. Thank you.
A: Lakeland is between Tampa and Orlando - a little bit nearer to Tampa. Sanford is about 30 miles further north so you might want to avoid unless you can get a really good flight deal. (it has a Greyhound stop)
Best coaches operate a shuttle from Orlando airport to Lakeland - see their website.
Greyhound have a station in Lakeland - if arriving at Tampa airport you can get a free shuttle to downtown which is 2 blocks from the Greyhound
The local bus company in Lakeland is Citrus Connection - you could try calling them for advice also
Q: Does anyone know if there is a connection for buses between tampa and lakeland florida?
My car broke down and i need a way to get to and from work until it can get fixed. I live in lakeland and work in tampa florida. I need to know if there is absolutely any way to catch a bus and transfer to any tampa bus to get to work. Can't afford to get my car fixed till after Christmas and I can't afford to lose my job either. Please help.
A: There is Greyhound Bus service between Lakeland and Tampa. Roughly $28.50 each way refundable or $23.50 non-refundable.
There are local bus services in Lakeland and in Tampa. You would need to check which route passes the bus depot in each city. It seems a royal pain and it would be far cheaper and faster to rent a car while your car is being repaired.
