A: Call the vet and speak to a vet tech.. They will let you know how much benadryl to give them. I think its like 1/4 of an adult tablet. Anyway, it really didn't work b/c one of my cat turns into a total monster if we try to give her a pill... We went to a vet and got a tranquilizer for her when we moved from california to arizona. That didn't work for my cat , just made her eyes look all crazy since she was trying to fight off the sleep. You could see the third eyelid, it was sad/funny. My advice for traveling with cats: no food or water past 7pm the night before you move!

Can I buy a car in FL for the 6 months if I'm not a US citizen. Have swiss drivers license. Will have FL address and phone #. Are there any long term rental places? Will be in Ft. Myers/Naples area. Will I need international drivers permit?

A: Yes, you can purchase a car in the USA as a foreigner. The dealership can help you with registration. Your home auto insurance MAY be able to cover you in the USA so ask. If not, the dealership can help arrange insurance. All of the car rental companies offer long-term rentals, and that would probably be a better option for you than buying. The rental cost per month would be about the same as if you got financing, you don't have to worry about selling the car when you leave, the rental agency will pay for scheduled maintenance (oil changes, etc.) + repairs (also flat tires), and you just get another car from the agency if you need or want one. Check to see if your home auto insurance covers rental cars in the USA. If not, look for regular insurance in the USA rather than paying a fortune for insurance via the rental agency. You do not need an International Driving License/Permit in the USA, but it is best to get one if your home license is not in English. Friends and I are going down there in March. I've been down there before. Approx. How far away is Estero Bvld from RSW (airport) or Sanibel island...or Naples..We wont have a car, bikes are fine. We wanted to stay on estero bvld, but all the hotels seem way too expensive. Any info on Ft myers would lovely :) thank you!

A: It's kind of far but here's a suggestion. Buy a bus pass from Lee Tran. It's alot cheaper. The places you've mentioned are kind of too far to ride on bikes. Q: What is the best way to travel to Key West. Boat & Taxi or Car?
Staying at Hyatt Winward Pointe. Live in Tampa Bay area. What is the cheaper way to travel to Key West? 2 people total coming. Approx 450 miles each way driving. Or a boat at $90 person out of Ft. Myers. But taxi to hotel is $20 each way. Hotel is 5 miles out of downtown, so need taxi to get there. What do you believe is cheaper? Also do you really need a car to get around Key West to do the sites and stuff? Thanks for the help!!!

A: My husband and I live in Orlando and he is originally from Key West. When we visit there, we enjoy renting a car and driving ourselves. We always have transportation when we get there. We are an older couple so the car works for us. We found that a lot of tourists rent mopeds or golf carts to ride around the island. Parking is hard to find on Duvall Street. There is some parking available on Mallory Square. The rentals down there are a little pricey, but people seem to enjoy traveling that way. I wouldn't recommend using the taxi unless you need a sober driver. It can get very expensive.

Q: I need to send a dog to Florida via air. Can you help me locate a carrier?
Need to send from Detroit to Ft. Myers, preferably direct. Not sure who to contact. Dog weights about 60#. Or if someone knows a way to ship by car or truck let me know. Would like to send ASAP as it is my grandson's dog and he is already there.

A: Contact the airlines that service the Florida airport. This dog could probably be shipped in a large vari-kennel, depending on the size of the dog he might need to go in an x-tra large. You will need to get a health certificate from your vet within 10 days of travel. The dog needs to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight leaves. The cost by air would probably vary from $200 to $300.

Q: Car Rental Companies that don't charge extra for being under 25?
Hi, going on my honeymoon and needing to rent a car in Ft. Myers, FL. I have heard that most car rental companies charge extra if you are under 25 - is this true? I have did some research and found all of the car rental companies down there - but before I call each one and ask, does anyone have any helpful info? I am 24 with car insurance of course. Is there a car rental co that won't charge me extra for being under 25? Thanks for your help!

A: The only way to rent a car at 24 without an underage fee would be if you are a federal government employee or active duty military. You might also check with the company you work for to see if they have a corporate account with any car rental companies, where they have contracted a lower age, with no fee for their employees. If none of this applies to you, Enterprise has the cheapest underage fee at $15 per day. But they may charge more for the vehicle base rate to compensate, so make sure to compare rates from several companies. Hope this helps and good luck!

A: Well, you could take a trip to Savannah, GA. There is a beach about 20 mins. from downtown called Tybee Island that is just beautiful. Paula Deen's restaurant-The Lady and Sons is in Savannah. Also, Charleston, SC has a few beaches and a beautiful historic downtown, and only a 1 hour drive to Mytrle Beach which has everything. I have vacationed at all destinations, and are sooo nice. SC is my favorite though. Be careful booking sites for Hotels because there will sometimes be hidden charges that you won't find out about until check in and you get slapped with another $200.00 bucks for this or that. My Lincoln Town Car gets from 17.5 city to 28 Highway thats NOT bad -- the engine was just tuned and a mass air flow sensor was in stalled -- It is a sweet car But I just got married and my wife has a newer car. It rides like a dream and the back seat has NEVER been sat on and there have been NO bodies trnasported in the trunk

I'll be in FL in late April with my wife and heard that it's a very long, some would say boring, drive. Someone mentioned that we could fly just as cheap as renting a car and paying for gas, etc and that the drive was no fun. We only plan to be in the Keys for a couple of days and will return to CA from Ft. Lauderdale. Thanks!

A: I used to live in Key West and loved the drive....it can be quite beautiful. Plus, that way, you won't have to rent a car once you get there. When I lived there, the only place to get a car was at the airport. So, if nothing else, make sure they have one waiting for you when you get off the plane. P.S. ...while you're there, go to the sunset festival on the pier. It's at sundown, of course...and it's lots of fun.
