Q: How much is taxi from LA to west covina?
How much roughly is taxi going to cost me from west covina to Downtown LA west covina to Disneyland west covina to Santa Monica west covina to Hollywood No I don't want to public transportation it or rent a car!

A: You're talking about a distance of about 20 miles. Using a taxi would be astronomically expensive.

Q: I really wanted to see a Helloween concert on October 6th at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, but I...?
remembered that I'm going off to UC Santa Cruz for college. I found out that Helloween is playing at the Fillmore on Geary Blvd. in San Francisco (about 1h 30min away from campus). I was wondering what the easiest way to get there is (bus, taxi, etc.). If anyone is going to UCSC and wants to go to the concert with me and has a car we should definitely get in touch. Helloween is my favorite band.

A: If you don't rent a car, you'll almost certainly have to stay overnight in San Francisco. Without a car, it'll take you about three hours to get there. By public transportation, you'll have to take the Santa Cruz Metro #17 bus to San Jose Amtrak. Then transfer to the train for San Francisco. Once in San Francisco, it is either a taxi or bus to Japantown (where the Fillmore Auditorium is located). http://www.scmtd.com/routes/rt17.html http://www.caltrain.com/timetable.html Greyhound's long-haul buses might mean fewer transfers. But it's certainly not any faster or cheaper. Personally, I find the train more comfortable. You'll have more restrooms, tables, and ports for your electronic devices on the train. They're attempting to introduce Wi-Fi as well. There are two hotels near the Fillmore (The Kabuki and Best Western Tomo). They are both mid-range establishments: http://www.jdvhotels.com/hotels/kabuki http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/productInfo.do?propertyCode=05249

Q: What do I need to know about moving to West Hollywood?
I've settled on West Hollywood as my ideal place to live when I move to LA at the end of the summer. Before you write in telling me how crappy LA is and be all negative, let me say this: I know LA isn't a great place to live. I know there is traffic and smog and creepy ass people and gangs (that being said I lived in Oklahoma City which has the largest gang population in the country next to LA and it wasn't that bad plus it's a complete sewer system and I can't imagine LA being anything close to OKC even with all the negative stuff I've read about it). I'm going there to be an actress. I'm NOT going there to be famous, or to get rich and all that BS. I know it's pretty much a pipe dream and the odds of making it is rare. I have actually studied acting and film for a long time. It's my passion and I'm damn good at it and the only reason I want to move to LA is because that's where a majority of the work is. I could be happy having to work as a waitress and living in a crappy apartment if it meant I could work towards being an actor. I know about all the scams and all the stuff that happens in the industry. I'm a grown adult and god forbid, I've been able to survive on my own for a while now. I'm confident I can do it in LA. I have a lot of money saved up, money set aside for emergency flights home, car problems, and enough to live on completely for about a year, and I will be moving with no debt. My car is paid off and my parents agreed to pay my insurance and cell phone. All I need to worry about is rent, gas, food, and utilities. I plan on finding an apartment or house with a roommate or two. All that being said, I just want to know about West Hollywood. From what I've read it's a generally safe area and it's close to a lot of stuff, with lots of young people. But I want to hear from people who have lived there, not just statistics from random websites and stupid negative people. Tell me about what it's like to live there. What are the great things about living there? What are the sucky things? What are the people like? How easy is it to find apartments (I've read LA is full of apartments and its not hard to find one like it would be in places like NYC). How much will car insurance run me? How much is gas up there on average? Is WeHo an ideal place to be for someone in the entertainment industry? I don't mind people thinking I'm gay. To me that's like people thinking I'm black. It's irrelevant. Plus, I love my gays and it's actually appealing to me to be around them. And there's only 120,000 actors in SAG so as far as I'm concerned there's only 120,000 REAL actors in LA To answer the second person's question, by the time I move I plan on having about $50,000 saved, but I will also be working. That money is just to get me going and through rough patches if I lose my job or something. Oh! and I've been looking at a lot of roommate sites and there's lots of pretty nice places with people seeking roommates asking about $1200 all bills paid. That is ideal for me. and to add another thing. I am from a very wealthy, expensive part of Dallas where a 1-bedroom will run you about $1000 - 1500, so nothing about the pricing of LA shocks me.

A: WeHo is not an ideal place for you to live. I'd recommend Studio City. It's near most of the major studios. It's right next to Hollywood, is a very nice area (lots of celebrities live here, Robert Blake shot his wife here, Britney Spears got married here), and is much more affordable for the same apartment. You can get a nice 1 bedroom for 1200 here. There are 3 supermarkets, a Trader Joe's, a farmer's market every Sunday morning, a nice mall nearby that isn't ever crowded. All the laid back people who actually work in the industry live here. Because a lot of special effects people from the studios occupy a large amount of the houses here, there are 2 areas with the best trick or treating and haunted houses in the city. So unlike WeHo, where the hipster losers who are always pimping their script or acting reel (unless that's what you want) outnumber the actual actors, you will meet actual people working in the industry here. Since you want to be an actor you need to know the location of the major studios. CBS Studios is located in Studio City. Universal Studios is right next to Studio City. Warner Bros and Disney are nearby in Burbank. The only major studio in Hollywood is Paramount and it's in the bad part of Hollywood (yes there is a bad part). Fox is in Century City. Sony is far away in Culver City. But that's okay, because the most traveled freeway in LA, the 101, goes through Studio City. Hope this helps you. By the way, Los Angeles probably has the most expensive gas prices in the country. The average is $3.00 a gallon here right now, while the US average is $2.54.

Q: Hollywood vs. West Hollywood?
I'm a 23 yr old female moving to the LA area in a few weeks. Where should I live, Hollywood or West Hollywood? Which area is safer? Which one is more fun? Where are more things to do? Which one has more shops/bars/restaurants? Which one is better when you don't have a car? Or are there any other reasons I should pick one over the other? Thanks for the answers so far :) ! Just wanted to add that there's no need to tell me I SHOULD have a car... because I am not allowed to drive at the moment (meds). But I will work in between Hollywood and West Hollywood.. that's why it has to be either one of those two areas.

A: West Hollywood is cleaner, nicer, safer, better restaurants. Hollywood is dirty, trendy, crowded. The police are better in West Hollywood. However, it is the "gay community." I mean this literally. If that makes you uncomfortable, I recommend looking elsewhere. But since you are female, it may not affect you because its more gay men than women. Also, you may wanna check out the Valley: Specifically Burbank, or Toluca Lake. You will get more for your money. Check out Craigslist.com to find apartments. I don't recommend "Westside Rentals."

Q: North Hollywood to West Hollywood?
My car broke down and I start a new job tomorrow. I have to be to work by 3pm. I'm coming from Magnolia BLVD in North Hollywood to Santa Monica BLVD in West Hollywood. How would I get there? Is there anyway I can get back once I get off at night?

A: North Hollywood subway station on Lankershim. Take the RED LINE subway to Hollywood & Highland (only 2 exits). Then hop either a bus or cab the rest of the way. Coming back...last train runs at 11:55 (leaving from Union Station).

Q: West Hollywood without a car?
Is that possible?

A: Possible? Yes. Very difficult, inconvenient, and generally a pain in the butt? Double yes.

Q: The Ramada West Hollywood?
I am staying here in march, in usa for the first time from New zealand. Is this quite close to touristy attractions? I have viewd a map and it looks like it but its quite hard to tell as its a smallish map? Any info would be great. Also wanted to ask if west hollywood was safe to walk around ? We are also s pending 5 days in santa monica, i know alot of ppl, have said we may need to rent a car but we have shuttle transfer, woudl we still need a car to get around the hollywood sites staying at the ramada? but am i in walking distance to much?

A: It is close to tourist attractions by cab. The Ramada West Hollywood is epic center to the gay community, which is a tourist attraction in it's own right. You are right in the middle of the mix. You can walk to a variety of gay clubs and bars and many cafe's and restaurants. It is generally safe to walk around. Many people will be out on foot. You can rent a car to get to other areas of the city or you can catch a cab. You are close to historic Hollywood. A bus ride away. Close to Santa Monica, a cab ride away. Very close to Beverly Hills, a cab or bus ride away. Melrose Ave, a short bus or cab ride away.

Q: What was the last car owned by Mae West and is there a list of cars she owned while in Hollywood.?

A: Follow link to picture. Mae liked a Cadillac Limousine. OLD-TIME MOVIE FANS can "come up and see" the 1934 V-12 Cadillac Town Cabriolet once owned by movie queen Mae West. This famous car was used in, "Batman Forever".

Q: Any good cheap rate hotels near West Hollywood California?
My friends and I are looking for a good rate hotel in or near West Hollywood. I am visiting during spring break to visit UCLA so Id rather be close by to that, and I have gone to expedia, cheaptickets, hotels, and priceline. I cant find anything good, so maybe someone who lives there know of any good priced ones? key places, Hollywood & Highland center, and UCLA. so please something nearby. we wont be renting a car so it cant be like 60 miles away. thanks

A: Your best bets are Econo Lodge Inn & Suites West Hollywood or Saharan Motor Hotel. http://www.econolodge.com/ires/en-US/htm... http://www.saharanmotel.com/

Q: Hotel in Hollywood or West Hollywood for vacation?
I'm debating between staying at the Ramada in West Hollywood or the Ramada in Hollywood. The price/night in West Hollywood is around 2x the cost. Is this worth it? My plans for the trip are visiting the beach, going to bars/clubs, eating at nice restaurants, and so on. I will be renting a car, but at night, it would be nice to be able walk, take public transportation, or an affordable cab ride to/from the drinkin establishments.

A: Stay in Hollywood, not West Hollywood. West Hollywood has a wide variety of homosexual clubs to pick from, whereas Hollywood has a variety of clubs. So if you are homosexual then West Hollywood is a good place for you. .

Q: Should i stay in Santa Monica or West Hollywood?
Im going to be in LA for the first time ever, and i don't know where i should be looking for hotels, it's me and my girlfriend and we plan on shopping, going to the beach, universal city, rodeo drive, sunset strip all of that kind of stuff, no car so its gonna be public transport and walking al the way, Would staying in Santa Monica, West Hollywood or somwhere else be the best option?

A: I would say the consensus is West Hollywood. Check out the Best Western Sunset Plaza. Nice hotel, good location. Also, check out metro.net. If you aren't going to use a car, then you will need to do some advance planning for your excursions. Places like Universal will be easy... just take a bus to a Red Line station, then take the subway north to Universal City. Have fun!

Q: Commuting from LA West Hollywood to Irvine for work time, cost, feasibility/avaliability, parking, car/subway?
I'm thinking about commuting from LA either Downtown or West Hollywood to Irvine for work. What are the time, cost, feasibility/avaliability (ie last train runs on during the week and weekends), parking both ways, transportation from train station to work and apt (both ways)?

A: Actually, you'll have to use Metrolink. See metrolinktrains.com for schedules (click on Orange County line). Amtrak (Pacific Surfliner) also runs trains on the exact same route. Check their schedule as well to see if it works better. If you have a monthly metrolink pass, you can ride Amtrak trains between the same stations for free. Of course, you'd have to take a bus and/or the red line subway to get from WeHo to Union Station.

Q: how much is a car service from LAX to West Hollywood and which car service should i use?

A: Aprox $75 to $100. Some go as low as $50. But to get the low rates you have to get them form coupons and ads in the mail. Check out Pioneer Limo

Q: Where is the best place to park for extended hours in West Hollywood near Santa Monica Blvd. & La Brea?
I started working in the West Hollywood area just south of Santa Monica Blvd & La Brea and I'm wondering where the best place to park in this area is. There's almost never open parking spaces on Romaine Street and anything south of that seems to be residential where parking is only 2 hours maximum. This isn't the greatest option when I'm looking for a place to keep my car for 7 or so hours. Any help would be appreciated.

A: well the city of west hollywood does have a few parking lots see http://www.weho.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/DetailGroup/navid/54/cid/711/ not sure how close any of those parking lots are but it might help or have you consider using Public transit instead? or perhaps carpooling you say you are working what parking at your job location?

Q: How do you use the bus system to and from Burbank to West Hollywood?
I won't have a car for a couple of weeks when I get back to L.A. this month and am having to resort to the bus system. What bus do I take to get from burbank to west hollywood (sunset blvd, specifically the Train Gym) and the go back from west hollywood back to burbank?

A: okay I ran possible trip for you from the Burbank Metrolink station (since you didn't state where in Burbank you were starting from you can board Metro Line 92 take this bus to Temple and Edgemont then you change to Metro Line 10 La Cienega Blvd &Melrose and your gym is at 624 North La Cienega Blvd (there other options but they required to go into downtown LA and then change there another option (eff June 24) you could take Metrolink from the Burbank station to Union station then board a rapid 704 which will take to La Cienega Blvd & Santa Monica (here you just use your metrolink ticket as a transfer (the other options require you pay two fares of $1.25 each or get a day pass (which will be $5.00 in July)
