Q: Is there anywhere in Santa Barbara or Ventura, CA that will rent a car to a 19 year old?
I am going to San Francisco and i don't want to take my truck cause of the gas prices i need to find a car to rent.
A: No. Better to borrow a friends' car.
Q: how can i make moving from chicago to santa barbara, ca without a car easier?
my boyfriend and i plan on putting a majority of our money together to move from the suburbs of chicago, to santa barbara, ca. unfortunately, he doesn't drive and i very highly doubt my car will make the trip. therefore, that leaves us with either the bus or train (flying is too costly). we plan on using public transit and biking to get around once in SB, but now we're faced with a new dilemma: how do we get our larger belongings like a couch, bed, etc, cross-country without a car?
if there is such a way, what would be some cheaper options, if any? or would we be just better off buying new furnishing once out there?
any help is majorly appreciated. i'm counting on you, guys! thanks in advance. :]
A: You do realize you are moving to a very expensive part of California where a lot of millionaires live? And you are going there without money? The best I can think of is try and get a medium sized Uhaul truck. Either that or don't take any furniture with you, just live light til you have the money to start anew. Good Luck on the move!!!
Q: I am a Santa Barbara City College student, first year and I am looking into getting a loan of $10,000?
Where is the best place to get the loan with very low interest rates and thats not a scam!I need to make sure that I don't have to pay back till after I graduate!I need something that is trustworthy.I wanna buy a car because I'm tired of walking.
A: i was under the impression that a school loan had to be used for school related costs -- how can a car be a school related!!! not that i care but are you sure you want to do this!!!
Q: Which one is better option in 4 days LA and Santa Barbara or LA- las vegas???
I was planing a trip to California for this Feb. I goin 5 days to S. Francisco and 4 to LA, but some people tell me It´s not a good idea waste 4 day in LA.... I was thinking in Santa Barbara (how long is in car?) or going 2 day to las Vegas... It`s my first time in the west cost and I live in Ecuador.. so I don`t like waste my time...I need a clue for spend this 4 day in a good way...
A: If all you have is 4 days, I think LA/SB is the better option.
4 days isn't enough to cover LA/LV.
Or spend all 4 days in Vegas.
As to California being overrated, I smell sour grapes. They never been to Yosemite, or seen the redwoods or the desert in bloom.
It really depends on what you like to do. If you like tourist stuff, LA is the place. If you are not impressed with glitz and glamour then you may be disappointed.
The problem is, Feb. is the rainy month. But typically, it will rain for one day, then clear for a day, then rain again. So plan according.
LA to SB should take you 2-3 hours, depending on our ever-lovin' traffic.
Enjoy your trip.
Q: Has anybody been to Tenerife? If so, have you stayed at Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean Club?
Ok, so I am going to be staying there in January. I just want to know what this place is like. Does it really smell? What sort of transportation did you use there? Should I rent a car or just go to places by taxi? What are some general tips you can give for anyone who is going to be in tenerife? Thanks, any advice will be appreciated.
A: it's a very nice complex.
the island doesn't smell.
i would recommend you hire a car as where you will be staying is quite away from the main tourist attractions and nightlife!
but get to your complex first, taxis are not that bad shouldn't cost you more than 15euros from airport, then check what services reception offers you,as lots of the attraction have free buses which will pick up near you,so decide what you want to do before deciding on hiring a car.i recommend you take an island tour first, then take a car to go back to places you want to see more of.buy a map and tour guide as soon as you get there, there's loads do see and do,when on island tour ask the rep's opinion on some things.whatever you do don't drink and drive!it's too dangerous there,if going out at night and you want to save money,go to night club area Playa De Las Americas by bus and get taxi home!

Q: Cheapest way to fly to santa barbara, ca. from sacramento? Sites?
Airfare is so expensive flying in..would like to fly in near there cause we have to rent a car anyways..Do you know the cheapest site for a flight there...either nearby or directly to...?
A: you might want to look into train travel as alternate
(Amtrak does have one direct train from Sacramento to
Santa Barbara
(I suggested train instead because you probably will
find some flight but they probably will be higher
then Sacramento-lax
(although you could fly to lax and then the Santa barbara airbus to
Santa Barbara which is another idea
Q: Santa Barbara Halloween Advice?
Yikes! My friends and I rented a house in Santa Barbara for Halloween weekend purely for the Isla Vista parties... now im running into all these problems.
First i hear that they block everything off so that no cars can come in... We were planning on taking cabs anyways... any suggestions as to where to get dropped off with in walking distance? Also, will we have any problems leaving? We just wanted to take cabs back as well... but i heard that they don't let anyone leave... LOL
Also NOW i'm hearing that you have to show ID proving that you actually LIVE in Isla Vista, or they wont let you in. Whut the hell? Please tell me that this last statement isn't true!
Any other tips for my friends and would be much appreciated... I planned this trip for 14 of my friends and we are comming all the way down from the bay area... We just want to have a crackin' weekend with minimal drama and problems... Thanks for any and all advice!!
A: I've never seen anyone checking IDs, and I've never even herd of that. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. As far as getting in and out of IV via cabs, I would see if they would drop you off at FT (Francisco Torres), the tower dorms that are definitely within walking distance. Anywhere close to there is fair game, and you can reach IV very easily. Cabs can definitely be expensive in SB, though, so I would plan ahead for that.
Also, you shouldn't have any problems at all leaving. There will be a TON of police around, so you just need to be able to walk decently and be at least coherent, and not carrying any open containers. In general the cops recognize that this is the biggest Halloween party in the nation, and aren't too douchey about it.
I would definitely drink BEFORE heading out, as sometimes people throwing parties have a strict BYOB policy (who wants to pay for booze for 80,000 people?!). If someone ends up driving down there and getting too trashed to drive back (don't drink and drive, you WILL get a DUI, they'll be stopping everyone!) call this company called Zingo. They drive up on little scooters and then drive your car back to your place with you so you don't have to worry about going to get it the next morning!
Hope this helps! Email me if you have more questions!
Q: What is there to do/see in Santa Barbatra, CA?
live in Diamond Bar , CA and I want to take my boyfriend up to Santa Barbara for the day sometime.
Via Train... just to do something a little different... instead of driving
Is it absolutely necessary to have a car in Santa Barbara
Well whatever happens with the transportation arrangment... I've never been there and want to know what there is to do or see while down there?
I know the beaches are supposed to be gorgeous.
We love good food... the outdoor scenery... shopping...
Any suggestions or advice would be great!
A: Car is not absolutely necessary. I've done this myself, and may do it again soon.
The beach at Santa Barbara is very pretty. On weekends, they often have art and craft fairs along Cabrillo Avenue, which fronts the beach.
From the train Station, you are on State Street. There are about 2 miles of shops and restaurants on State Street, plus the beach and the pier. The Paseo shopping mall is about half a mile up State Street. You can literally spend the entire day just exploring this one area.
You also have the Santa Barbara Mission, which is quite beautiful. Trivia: Did you ever read "Island of the Blue Dolphin"? The subject of that book, the last native removed from San Nicolas Island, is buried in the cemetary at the Santa Barbara Mission.
There is a shuttle that runs up and down State Street and Cabrillo Ave, as well as other busses. It's pretty cheap, and great for when your feet get tired.
Q: what's the best route to take to go from LAX to Santa Barbara by car and how long would it take?
assuming it's a regular sunday afternoon (non-holiday season).
A: OM is right if you are in a super hurry, but why not take PCH along the coast..
Q: Is it worth the drive up to Santa Barbara?
My partner and I are taking a trip to LA and Vegas, we are renting a car and have one day to spare to drive somewhere and see some nice beaches etc. we've been before and stayed in Santa Monica so it's o.k if we end up missing that part. How long does it take to drive from Anaheim to Santa Barbara and how long would we need to spend there? it's just a place I've always wanted to see.
A: Santa Barbara is an interesting visit. It's amazing that so much of the beach was preserved untouched. My guess it's as much as three hours from Anaheim, but much depends on the traffic and your driving speed.
You could spend as little as an hour there, exploring just the waterfront, but taking a tour and visiting the mission probably is 2-3 hours, if I remember correctly. You additionally probably will want to eat somewhere near the beach or downtown.
There are other options, all of which I would prefer (in order) if I hadn't already seen them:
1) Visiting Palm Springs and taking the Tramway up San Jacinto. I don't know the weather at the top, but just the ride should be beautiful. If you're able to tour the plateau that would just be icing on the cake.
2) Visiting Long Beach with the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Queen Mary and a Soviet sub, a very different experience than Santa Barbara.
3) Taking a walking tour of downtown, especially visiting the Disney Center if you like world-class architecture.
4) Visiting the Ronald Reagan Museum and Library, also much closer to Anaheim and featuring the Boeing 707 that served as Air Force One from 1973 through 2001. It's a beautiful museum, although some of the content may not reflect your memory of events and the emphasis on Nancy Reagan may surprise you.
BOL!

Im trying to go to UCSB for halloween but I dont have a ride there or have a car of my own. Can anyone tell me the best way to go from UCSC to UCSB using public transportation (train, bus)?

Q: What is the fastest and best way to get to San Diego from Santa Barbara California in a car?
Went to google maps but directions have me going through L.A. and such. Wondering if you guys know any faster ways. Thank you so much
A: Yes, of course. Be creative and think outside the box. Indeed, LA is in the way and the traffic is horrible. Put the car on a plane and fly there.
