Q: Why are cops in San Diego hate import cars?
i live in san diego and here people who like hondas, acuras, mitsubishi anything related to import racing we get stoped all the time and even put harsh laws like if your car looks racy they could tell us to pop the hood and give us tickets if its modified which is stupid because every car lover whats his car to be and have the best..i know people have die over illegal street racing but it dosent mean all hondas with body kits race illegally.

A: Could be the "Wet fart in a coffee can" muffler that's missing the silencer. That's the main reason I have had to stop an import racer (or is it a ricer?). But the bottom line is that you live in one of two states that have the strictest emission control laws for motor vehicles in the US.

Where can I find a free water-hose location for washing cars (perhaps at an apartment complex) in San Diego? I live in the Clairemont area.

A: I hope you are joking. With the water shortage in Calif I doubt if anyone will give away free water to wash a vehicle. Try asking a friend who owns a home.

Q: Where is the best place for cheapest used cars prices in San Diego ?
Im looking for the best cheapest used cars prices, do you know where ? im talking about cars from 2000 to 6000 usd regards

A: The best prices for used cars are usually found with private owners who are selling the car themselves. You might find these cars in the local newspaper or on http://www.craigslist.com You could also try Carmax, which just opened up a San Diego branch. http://www.carmax.com. Good luck! Good luck.

Q: Things to pack for a trip to san diego by car for 1 year old?
Hi...We will be travelling to San diego with a 1 yr old by car. I just want to know what are the essential things needed. We will be visiting Legoland, zoo and Sea world too. So any suggestions as to what to carry for the 1yr old.

A: Don't forget a sweater, it is going to rain tomorrow and we are in a cooling trend all week with rain predicted again on Saturday. I would also bring a stroller, that is a lot of walking to do and you can use the stroller to carry the stuff the answerer above suggested. Food at all of those places is really expensive so you might want to put some snackies in zip locks to save yourself from buying it.

Q: Where I can buy the cheapest cars in San Diego CA?
I am looking for a Nissan Toyota o Honda almost any model (1997-2001)

A: Try using Craiglist.com. type in keywork for the car you want. I found this is usually the cheapest way. STAY OUT OF NATIONAL CITY! Unless you like getting ripped off.

Q: Can freshman have cars at San Diego State?
and be able to have a parking spot on campus, b/c some schools only let upperclassmen

A: yes most colleges are changing their rules this year and allowing freshman to have cars but you have to pay the high fee for the parking pass which can sometimes be over 100 dollars I know this i just got accepted to two colleges and im going through al the processes with room and board.

Q: Is it easy to get around without a car in San Diego?
I may be relocating to San Diego next year. I do not have a car by choice, and I would like to maintain a car-free life after I move to San Diego. Will I have trouble getting around without a car? How is the public transportation system there?

A: I guess it depends where you will live. Where were you thinking of? I live in East County, and as far as I can tell, public transport is fine and easy to figure out. There's the trolley, which is fun and goes on many routes. There's also plenty of buses. You probably won't see any taxis unless you're downtown, so I wouldn't rely on that. But like I said, there's the trolley and buses. I'd reccommend the trolley, it's funner (: haha.

Q: Is it illegal so wash cars in San diego, California??
me and my friends want to have a car wash in san deigo..are we aloud too??

A: In some cities in northern California, they've enacted local ordinances against the kinds of car washes that dump the runoff into storm drains that lead to streams or other waterways. Presumably the soap is considered a problem for aquatic life forms.

Q: What's the fastest route from LAX to San Diego in rush hour?
A question for the local residents...what would be the fastest way to get from LAX to San Diego by car in rush hour? Is it safe to stick to the I-5? On our return we are travelling on a weekend, so would it be best to take the I-5 then also?

A: There isn't a fast way. For the record, the I-5 is nowhere near LAX. Anyway, I would Sepulveda south out of LAX instead of the 405. On Sepulveda (it will change names to Pacific Coast Highway during your drive) I would turn left onto 190th St. in Redondo Beach. Take this for a couple miles and then you will come up to the 405 freeway entrance. Take that south for quite some time. When you are coming up on Irvine take the 73 toll road (make sure you have $5 cash, the toll cost is usually about $4 but can be higher). The toll road will save you about an hour if traffic is bad in Irvine (which it probably will be) and it merges onto the 5 south. The 5 itself can be very busy and there really isn't much you can do about it. If the traffic is absolutely stopped you can get off the freeway in Del Mar and take the beach route all the way into San Diego. Whereabout in San Diego are you going? Different parts of San Diego have better ways to go.

Q: Do all San DIego patrol cars have cameras?

A: I don't know about San Diego but I can tell you I work in a small city and all of our patrol cars have cameras, So I'd be willing to bet a larger city would. If not for evidence...for a liability issue. With all the law suits and what not going on it would be well worth slipping a tape in a player and prove that your men did nothing that was not forced upon them to do.

Q: I need someone to drive my son's car from San Diego to the Northern VA area?
My son is in Iraq and I need to get his truck from San Diego to Northern VA. Maybe a reliable college student looking to come home for the holidays. I don't have much $ to pay a company to ship it out here. Any suggestions?

A: the military will NOT ship a POV CONUS. in fact they only ship POVs OCONUS for authorized PCS moves, . I agree, to be on the safe side, your best bet is to drive it yourself and then fly back. I wouldn't trust a random person you picked off of craigslist unless they were a bonded professional driver.

Q: What is the driving time from San Diego to LAX on a tuesday afternoon?
I'll be traveling by car from San Diego to LA airport on a tuesday afternoon (sometime between 1-4pm) and am wondering how much time it will take me to get there given the traffic I'll encounter on my way. Please advise.

A: I checked for you on Map Quest. What part of San Diego are you leaving from? And are you only driving up to LAX or are you coming back? It is at least 2-2 1/2 hours to get all the way to the airport from DOWNTOWN SD. It is the middle of the afternoon, but LA and Orange County freeways always have construction going on somewhere and that always slows things down.
