Q: Public Transportation from LAX to Long Beach Hotel?
What are the options for getting from LAX to a Long Beach hotel besides renting a car? Is there any public transportation or shuttle services? What are the costs? Thanks!!

A: well it depends where your hotel is in Long beach if its downtown Long beach you have a few options using public transit you can first board a Lax "G: shuttle this bus will take to the Aviation Green Line station here you buy a ticket for $1.25 (or get a day pass for $5) then go up stair take the green line to the Wilmington/Imperial Rosa park station walk downstairs find another Ticket vending machine and pay another $1.25 (this is why the day pass comes in handy) then take the Blue line to into Long beach whats the address of the hotel ? (I can tell if you will need to take another bus or not ========================================================= thats one option another option is to take the Lax Shuttle "C" bus to the city bus center then board a metro 232 for direct service to long beach (this bus route takes about a hour and 1/2 to get into Long beach and it cost $1.25 ====================================================== 3rd option is take supershuttle or prime time direct to your hotel this will cost you about $20-30 dollars

Q: What means of transportation are available to Las Vegas from Long Beach, CA other than Greyhound, plane or car
I'm travelling with 3 children ages 12 and under and am not interested in the extended drive, traffic and all. We're planning to go in June, and Greyhound is not a viable option. Thanks in advance.

A: that's all there is... i just took amtrak out here last year when i moved here and i had to get off in san bernardino and take their bus the rest of the way which wasn't as bad as taking a greyhound bus. usually not that many people on them and they're clean!

Q: What will happen to all of the Champcar Panoz race cars after this weekend's Long Beach GP?
Maybe I can pick one up really cheap. How cool would that be driving into work in one of those? Realistically, I doubt I could afford to buy one rim and tire right now, never mind the whole car.

A: Lols yeah that would be funny..

Q: what shipping service do you use to ship a car from Long Beach, California to Europe?
Can you please tell me company names or a good service that ships cars from long beach to Europe

A: Couple things. 1. Since you are looking to go from Long Beach, CA to Europe your move will need to be divided into two main parts. The domestic transport (within the US). 2. The international transport, which will be the US port to the country in Europe. INTERNATIONAL The first thing you will need to do is find which port you are shipping from. The kind of company you are looking for is a company that goes by the name "Ro/Ro". That is a general name for a shipping/boat company that transport vehicle in a "Roll on and Roll off" manner. You will likely want to search for "freight forwarder ro ro" to find companies that will provide this service. Once you find the Ro/Ro company you are going to use they will give you the International price and specify which port to get the vehicle too.... they may also offer the domestic side. If I had to ball park the estimate for a Ro/Ro service from a port in Florida USA to a port in France or Germany you will pay every bit of $3000-$5800+ insurance. DOMESTIC When you know the port to get your vehicle to you will want to find an auto transport company that can ship your vehicle to the port from Long Beach. Popular ports are in New Jersey (NJ), Maryland (MD) and numerous ones in Florida (FL). To continue I will assume the port will be FL. The Transport Reviews.com pricing tool (http://www.transportreviews.com/directory/infobyroute.asp?OS=CA&DS=FL) shows that vehicle transports from CA to FL cost on average about $1200. They show some for as little as $800 and for as high as $1400. Since gas is expensive in CA and you will have time sensitive deadlines because of the connecting International leg, you will likely be on the high side of things. You can get custom quotes from several well rated domestic auto transporters at: http://www.autotransporter.com/ SUMMARY You will be paying $4000 to $8000 to ship your vehicle from CA to Europe. I hope this is helpful. Good luck.

Q: What is the driving time from Los Angeles to Long Beach on a sunday afternoon?
I'll be traveling by car to Long Beach from LA on a sunday afternoon (sometime between 12-2pm) and am wondering how much time it will take me to get there. Does anyone know also how much time will it take me to get from Long Beach to San Diego with sunday traffic? Please advise.

A: It has taken me anywhere from 45 minutes to 2.5 hours to get from LB to LA with weekend traffic. I went to San Diego from Long Beach Saturday morning and it took over 2 hours because of traffic. My usual highway speed is 80-85 mph so I am not a slow driver, but if there is traffic your drive time will take awhile.

Q: what kind of cars are used in the grand prix of long beach?
more specifically the champ car series. also, how does one win the race? They all start in different positions, yet the one in the back has to reach the front... i.e. more track to cover, how is this fair? And if they're timed, why is there that "closest" races where they are thousandths of a second different in crossing the finish line?

A: The Long Beach race is, as of this year. part of the IRL Series and the cars used are IRL Cars. Prior to this year it was part of the Champ Car series, which covers most of it's history (though, it was originally started as a second US Grand Prix in Formula 1, and was run that was for a few years). Like pretty much all forms of wheel to wheel auto-racing, the first car to cross the line after the race distance or time is completed is the winner. Cars are gridded in their starting positions based on their performance in qualifying (the car with the fastest qualifying gets the first spot, and so forth back). Races that are timed finish at the end of the lap after the time has expired, while distance races come to an end at the end of the prescribed number of laps.

Q: Do I need a car if i go to Long Beach State?
I might be going to Long Beach State and i would live off campus. Can I get by without a car? Do a lot of the students have no cars?

A: Having no car makes things a little harder when you are in college. Long Beach State is a big school and it's in a big city. If you don't have a car it's no big but it would be easier for you to get around with one than without one. Good Luck & Congrats.

Q: I am trying to find a car auction place in long beach, california can anyone help?
I am trying to find a car auction place in long beach, california i wanna buy a cheap car under 700 dollars can someone help?

A: Do you have a dealer license? There are auto auctions but most are closed to the public. http://manheim.com/corporate/locations/index.mpl For that sort of money you're likely better off searching for private party cars near you or discount car lots. Something you see and can drive usually beats the $700 mystery cars found at an auction. Most cheap cars like that end up at auctions for a reason... you'll likely inherit someone else's problems.

Q: Where can I take my dog to the beach in Long Island?
I'm looking for some place preferrably on the South Shore of Long Island...I know Montauk allows you to have dogs on the beach, but I'm in Babylon and my dog doesn't really enjoy long car drives...any good places? ugh. I was considering the nude beach but now I'd much rather float in my pool...Thanks for the "help" :)

A: Um, yech! Here is (hopefully) something a little more helpful :) http://www.longisland.com/parks/park_search.php?PHPSESSID_NOAUTH=caebc03cdf511510c1199ea222cfd84e&town=11702&zip=11702&radius=200&name=&search=Submit I entered Babylon in the search criteria, but you might find more options by doing the search yourself ( http://www.longisland.com/parks) Not sure about off-leash hours, check with each park (under which beaches fall, I believe).

Q: Renting a car in Long beach, cost?
I'm 20 years old international student. I want to know if I want to rent a car in Long beach for 8 months. What are the costs of insurance and renting? In addition, can I get some suggestion of renting car companies? I want to know which companies are best and most cheapeast in Long beach.( near long beach is fine Thank you *v*

A: I think it would be cheaper if you managed to lease a car rather than renting. Psh, even buying a car is cheaper than renting a car.

Q: Are there any car rental agencies in Long Beach or LA that will rent a car to an 18 year old?
I know that most of the large car rental companies require renters to be 21 or older. Are there any local companies that will rent a car to an 18 year old? Maybe even a car sharing company would. Zipcar requires members to be 21+.

A: I found four places that rent to 18 year olds in LA http://www.ameriparsrentacar.com/home.nxg http://www.atwest-rentacar.com/ http://www.basiccarrental.com/index.htm http://www.699rentacar.com/index.asp

Q: Any suggestions or advice for a long car ride and a trip to the beach with a 4 month old?
In 3 weeks my husband and I will be taking what is usually a 15 hour car ride to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Our daughter will just be turning 4 months at this time, she is very easy going happy and has been sleeping through the night since she was 2 weeks old! Any suggestions, advice or personal experience would be helpful for both the car ride and having a baby so young at the beach!

A: Aahhh yes, the wonderful car ride with a baby. That can be one of the worst car rides possible, or not as bad as you thought. First, do not set yourself up for failure. Insure you have the items needed...teething ring (some with water and place in cooler), pain medicine, gas medicine (no not for you for baby) and some visual toys that can see. Sometimes a toy holder that dangles the toys above the head is helpful. They will play with them. Plan on one person sitting in the back seat next to baby to help with monitoring and entertaining. Try not to break up the normal baby time pattern, especially meals and sleep. They will also need play time, but that is why the parent is sitting next to them and has toys. Lastly, figure on at least two extra hours of travel. With feedings, cleanings and normal events, extra time is needed. OH, shade in the vehicle is a good idea, but do not block the drivers view. A towel or baby blanket over the car carrier should surfice. Hope this helps.

Q: shipping car from long beach, CA to west africa?
can one ship a car from port in long beach to west africa

A: Yes you can. There are companies who will prepare all the paperwork for you, such as title, and transport the car to the nearest port. At the port they will put the car in a container, and ship it to the nearest port to your destination. Those companies usually charge about $500 to prepare the paperwork and send the car. If you want to know more, I can help.

Q: who is the cheapest toyota car dealarship in orange to long beach and near cities?
elmore?toyota of orange? irvine toyota or costa mesa? if you know any dealership that gives a very cheap deal please tell me, its for the toyota yaris sedan 2008 automatic transmission, and i know your gonna say ita about my credits ill tell you now i have no credit.

A: There is no dealer that is cheaper than another. No matter what they tell you, they all pay the same price for the cars. You can get a good deal anywhere. Just look up invoice prices BEFORE you go to the dealership. Do not let them show you the invoice since alot of dealerships doctor them. Dont' pay for crap like fabric protection and stuff the dealer tries to add. It was added at the factory usually and they jsut want to charge you for it anyway. You mentioned you have no credit. That could be a problem. To qualify for a loan you need some sort of credit history. Do you at least have a debit card from your bank? I would apply for a loan with your bank first. See what type of rate they offer you. Then tell your salesperson you have a loan already, but you will go with their financing if they can beat that rate. Don't tell them what that rate is. You need to be careful with what you tell the car dealer. Don't tell them your interest rate, your monthly budget, or anything. Just tell them the car you want. Don't get too excited about the car in front of them either. Don't let them talk to you in monthly payments. They come at you with high payments, only to lower them- yet you are still paying the same amount for the car. They just changed you from paying a loan for 36 months to paying one for 60. Talk about the actual sales price and fees they added. But do your research first. Find a model you like, get the VIN number and find an invoice online. There are websites that will show them to you. Find out what (if any) rebates there are in your area from the Toyota website. Take invoice price, minus rebates and add $500. Don't pay more than that for the car. Submit an internet request to multiple dealerships. Get a written copy of the offer and the details of the vehicle. Take it to another dealership. Let them find an identical vehicle (don't let them trade you one without the same options!!) and beat the price. Don't be in a rush. The whole process could take a few weeks, but you won't overpay.

Q: Long Beach??
I'm moving to Long Beach in a few months from Indiana and i have a few concerns. My first is that I won't have a car because I'll be leaving mine back home so how easy would it be to get around (more importantly to work). Are there a lot of places within walking distance? And secondly are there a lot of places to get jobs? I don't mean professional jobs, just something while I'm still going to school just to get by, you know? Thanks!

A: LA is definitely not Indiana. LA doesn’t have an effective public transportation like New York or San Francisco. One reason is that LA is larger in area than either of those, without a central hub where everything is. The city of LA is over 500 squre miles, and the metro area is about 5000 square miles. Back in the 1960’s, we might have done it. But by the time local governments got their act together, it was much more difficult to make a working public transit system. Also, unlike NY, we have earthquakes, which makes it a little more difficult to built underground. You could walk to a store. Many areas have one within a mile or two. However, those groceries get pretty heavy after the first mile. You NEED a car to effectively live in Southern California. Deal with it. The job market is good here, mainly because there are SO many people here that it creates its own job market. Then there are MANY industries, including tourism, entertainment, shipping, manufacturing, etc. It’s an incredible economy. However, it is just so difficult to get by without a car.
