Q: How many cars can a person sell in California without a dealer license?
I find good deals on some cars then buy it, drive it for a 6-10 months then sells it. How many cars can I sell in California? Just curious.

A: i own a shop and in most states now its 5 a year without a license, anything over that they start asking questions, good luck with it hope this helps.

Q: California Cars with no license plates?
I just moved here a few days ago and I see all these cars rollin' around with no license plate or just the dealer logo where it should be. What gives?

A: If they have the paper license plate or dealer logo, it means it's a new car. The real license plate hasn't arrived in the mail yet (it takes 30-45 days to get a new license plate from the DMV) New car registration is usually taped to the lower right of the front windshield, and acts as a substitute until the metal plates arrive from the DMV.

Q: How to get Wholesale cars dealer license in California?
I am planning to by cars from another staits at the car auction and sell them in California. Thank you

A: Check with the California motor vehicle department for requirements. http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vehindustry/vehindustry.htm

Q: What is the Tax amount on cars in California?
So I am shopping for a used car from a dealer, and I know the final sales prices is without TTL, but what is the tax rate? Cars I am looking at are in the 20 - 25k range if that makes a difference.

A: I think 8.25% on the total amount you paid for the car, which would be minus a trade-in if you have one.

Q: With California emission standards on new cars, would it be better to buy after I move out of state?
I'm moving to Utah and plan to buy a new car (Jeep Wrangler). My understanding is that new cars sold in California require additional emisssions-control equipment, which I'm assuming would add cost to the car. Should I buy before the move or after?

A: cheaper to buy after you move.

Q: Pennsylvania has adopted the same strict emissions std as California for cars, will motorcycles be the same?
will new motorcycles sold in the state of Pennsylvania have the same emission std's as California? Gov. Rendell knows whats best for us,,,, right?

A: If the state of PA has made the same as CA. then yes it will be the same for motorcycles. It's the exhaust they ae worried about. The newer bikes will have to have the catalic converters on them and will have to meet standerds. It also depends on when the bike was built. After a certin age it wont fall into the same catogory as others. also after a certin year built all motorcycles will have to have mufflers. even harleys

Q: What is the California law on cars sound systems?
I have subwoofers in the back of my honda. i dont know the law about how loud a car stereo can be, and with subs it doesnt really help. ive never gotten a ticket. but usually whenever i see a cop i automatically turn it down no matter what. so i was just wondering if anyone knows what the actual law is in California, cause then i dont have to worry about that while im driving.

A: California Noise Control Act was adopted in 1973, however it mostly mandates that cities adpot a noise ordinance. So it may vary city to city. You can find more info @ http://home.netvista.net/hpb/calnca.html http://www.nonoise.org/lawlib/states/californ/californ.htm You can also research the noise control laws in the city/county you live in.

Q: Taxing people who own hybrid Cars in California?
I have heard on and off that California is thinking about taxing people who own Hybrid Cars. Since people are not buying enough Gas and the Govn't has to come up with new ways to make money. I seen and heared this Statement from couple of people. Can anyone tell me where I can find an article on this, Taxing people who own Hybrid Cars. I know that there is incentive but not a tax on owning one.

A: Just another example of how insane our government is. Shouldn't the state of California be giving hybrids TAX BREAKS instead of tax increases since they're more fuel efficient? The Republican party strikes again! It's so discouraging! Tax those Hummers and 1000 sq.ft. Homes-on-Wheels to the point of bankruptcy! Their ego inflated owners need to be either taxed or shamed off the roads! That's my answer to the problem.

Q: What is the difference in California highway Patrol cars?
There is a white Highway Patrol car better known as Polar Bear, and there is a black California Highway Patrol car. Why do they have different colors? Is one working for Department of transportation or D.O.T.? Or is the white car more senior? I was just wondering.

A: The white units are for commercial enforcement....such as big rigs.

Q: how many cars does california have?
i wanted to know how many cars california has as in if the population is 35 million are there 35 million cars being driven or is it twice that amount?

A: that would be an understatement. in my family of 4, we have 7 vehicles - 5 which are used normally, one is for trips and one that only goes to car shows... all, minus the bel air, are newer model vehicles in good condition. go to the trashy parts of cali where people have junk cars that they drive around and pollute the air with... it's not a pretty picture.

Q: When Will Obama Require Cars in California to Run on Natural Gas or Solar to "Create Jobs"?
California has a major pollution problem. Wouldn't it be good for the state to require everyone's car to run on natural gas or solar? Obama says these things create jobs and make us all wealthier. Right?

A: It could work, but you need the money to create such jobs and industries to do. We just need to stop spending the money on those stupid corporations that wasted their money and use it to at least fund the idea.

Q: What happened to the electric cars in California?
They seemed like they were really pushing and fighting to get some electric cars going in california back in 2001 or so. What happened? Did the federal govt stop it or something? why? yeah I am sure they were not perfect back then, but imagine what advancements could have been made in 7 years of building more and more of them? Who killed this idea? why was the electric car killed? by whom? why? details please.

A: Electric cars were part of the goals for a certain percentage of Zero Emission Vehicles or Ultra Low Emission Vehicles....I'm never sure which category they belong to. The state had a fixed goal of a certain percentage of each. Technology did not seem to be keeping up, and the broad appeal of Hybrids meant the state was substantially meeting its goals of reducing greenhouse gases from vehicles. btw calling electric vehicles ZEV's is a bit of a misnomer since we simply move the emissions from the tailpipe to the smokestack of the electric generating plant.

Q: Do cars in California come with different emission equipment than cars in other states.?
I live in Texas, I am looking at buying a SUV that was originally sold and titled in California. I have heard that cars that are originally sold in California have different emissions equipment than any other state and that the equipment can actually cause you to get worse gas mileage and add to future repair bills, is this true?

A: Yes, it is true they have additional equipment. I haven't heard anything about it causing worse gas mileage, and think that would actually defeat much of the purpose! The should be running cleaner and more efficiently if anything. If you even have an emissions test in Texas, it *could* make it harder to pass, depending on what your test involved, but I really doubt it's worth worrying about.

Q: I need help locating California car clubs that specialize in American Motors cars?
I am attracted to Marlins, V-8 Pacer wagons, Metropolitans, and the usual unusual. The more bazzare the deeper the desire. Z

A: The only one that I know of is based in San Jose, CA. There used to be a American Motors club chapter in San Diego, CA. Now, there are clubs that like Pacers and Metros and the AMX, but I don't know of one that is into Marlins. You can write to me and I'll send you the information that I have; not sure how current it is, but at least it would be a start for you. Best wishes always, a car nut.

Q: Price Difference In California Cars and Other Cars?
I know that California Cars ( the ones that past california emission standards) cost more money than the other cars. Can any one find me a couple numbers to deal with? PLEASE CITE WHERE YOU GOT THE INFORMATION! First helpful answer will win best

A: That's not necessarily true.. Imports hold more value in Los Angeles than Domestics. But Domestics (especially trucks) hold more value in the mid-west. There are many factors involved in the value (or cost) of an Automobile. Geography, Demographics, Vehicle Type, and purpose are some of the major ones.
